The Ministry of Foreign Affairs for The Kingdom of Belgium, with some degree of apprehension and regret would like to announce the closure of its embassies and consulates in France.

Effective from midnight hereafter, The Kingdom of Belgium shall extend its protection to those diplomatic officials currently on Belgian soil as well as safe passage across the frontier. French Nationals seeking their departure from Belgium may do so without hinderance in so far as said departure does not present a security risk with respect to the state at large.

The French Ambassador shall summoned within 24 hours of this statement's release to the public.

The French Embassy in Brussels would torch all essential documents and all hard drives with sensitive information. Nonessential staff were immediately evacuated by two members of the embassy's security team. At the same time, the rest would protect the ambassador and his senior staff as they went through the business of closing the embassy and destroying anything sensitive.


Only after this was completed would the French Government officially announce that the Embassy in Brussels was to retracted and vacated and that diplomatic relations between the two would be suspended until the Belgian government gave an explanation for this sudden breakoff.

The Belgian Consulates in Noumea and Papeete would be given free passage to evacuate to Australia, the two consuls would be granted Temporary Protection visa's (subclass 785) by Australian Customs and Border Protection Service. The Norwegian Intelligence Service - presently encompassing the entire Ministry of Intelligence - took note of the closure of embassies in France and Belgium. This information was securely transmitted to the Minister of Intelligence, and also to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

President Viktor Yushchenko would be informed of Belgium's public announcement by a trio of hand-wringing staff from Ukraine's own Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Why this news had made its way to him through Twitter before his own Foreign Ministry knew of it was concerning, but for now he had several more pressing questions. After muttering several rude statements about Minister Tarasyuk and Tarasyuk's mother, President Yushchenko would attempt to place a phone call to the Belgian government.
