Foreign Minister Anthony Vinter answered the call on a secure line. The blinds in his room were shut, and he was about to start his afternoon twenty-minute powernap, but the call was patched through because of the close relationship between Sweden and Norway.

"This is Vinter," Anthony said as he sat forward towards his desk and rubbed his face. "To whom am I speaking?"

"Mr Vinter, it's Mattias from the Department of Antarctic Affairs in Sweden, how are you?" the line was heavily encrypted given the security classification granted and the call was made from a private office. Ordinarily the Secretary did not like making cold calls however the security of Antarctica was becoming paramount given global interest.

"Good afternoon, Mister Winblad. I'm doing just fine. How can I help you?" he asked as he took out a notepad and readied an ink pen. He opened up the file the Ministry of War had given him on Antarctica and briefly looked it over as he listened to his colleague from Sweden.

"I am concerned about the escalation within Antarctica and our ability, as founding members of the Nordic Council, to retain our control and security of the region. I am concerned that whilst other nations have an interest in Antarctica it is purely our of spite and fear that Nordic states are becoming overpowered; I'm not sure about Norway's position in that matter but I would hate to see the dissolution of the territory into an unregulated free-for-all which would undoubtedly decimate the natural beauty."

"I entirely agree, Mattias. We have assets prepared to defend Queen Maud Land, as well as Swedish Antarctic territory, if the need arises. Is there something that you would like to propose that we do? His Majesty's Government entirely backs both of our claims to Antarctica and is willing to do whatever is necessary to defend them," he replied.

"Well I'm informed that not only have we received the Australians in Wilkes Land but the Swedish Royal Navy is currently experiencing an attempt by Argentina, so needless to say the situation is escalating rapidly; I presume your forces are in a state of readiness or at least can be in a state of readiness in the coming hours, this is a rapidly changing situation and we will need all the support we can get... In addition to this, I think amendments need to be made to the Antarctic Treaty in order to ensure governance of Antarctica is inherited by the other party should a list of set circumstances occur dictating that they have since lost control of the region."

"I will speak with the Prime Minister and the Minister of War. I will advise them to mobilize the Norwegian Royal Coast Guard and possibly some of our Royal Navy assets as well. Either myself, or the Minister of War, will inform the Swedish government when a deployment is made. Has Sweden deployed any major assets of its Royal Navy, including its carriers? At this time, I believe the Coast Guard is prepared to deploy ten Svalbard-class icebreakers, five Oslo-class frigates, as well as one or two amphibious warfare vessels and support ships. The Foreign Ministry has been considering whether or not to send a representative to the international Antarctica conference which will be starting soon - will Sweden be sending a representative? Also yes, we would be willing to make any necessary changes to the treaty," he stated.

"Mattias, I have a call from the Argentinians. I'll get back to you," he said before adding, "we have a Task Force on its way to the Southern Hemisphere. I'll let you know how this phone call goes if it's anything of substance. If an emergency comes up and you can't reach me, contact our Ambassador to Sweden in Stockholm, or contact Prime Minister Frost directly. Keep me in the loop, send a secure email if you have to" he said, before terminating the call.
