Testing of the J600 YIII Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile System -1999

Operation Participants:

Ballistic Missile Network of the Republic of Turkey

Top Secret/Secure Information
Operation Background

The Republic Recently acquired the brand new J600 Yildrim III Ballistic Missile System, which has the range to reach most of the Middle East and lands surrounding Turkey. It is the Second of its kind after the J600T Yildrim I produced a year ago. The test will verify its capabilities by striking a retried civilian fishing vessel in the Black Sea, 50 miles from the Turkish Coastline in international waters. The area will be monitored for civilian activity To prevent an Unintended strike on the civilian vessel. The Operation will also be recorded by numerous state media agencies at the launch site under strict supervision and allowed for redistribution two days after the test. This would all be very secretive and the Media would closely watched. There would also be two video buoys and a camera on the Civilian testing vessel to record the missile strike.

The Missile System would be prepped and readied for immidate launch with the Ministry of Defense and 35 Members of the National Assembly present. With the successful test of the rocket system it would mark the beginning of a new era, no nation had a defense against these weapons and the systems would guarantee that Turkey could Annihilate any in the Middle East that would dare to provoke Turkey. Currently only around 80 Missile Systems were fully functioning but 200 would be ordered if all went to plan. Security would be tight around the launch site and a KAAN class Coast guard patrol vessel would be stationed near the target. The Cameras would be readied and a F-600T launcher would be loaded via a Reload vehicle. The Missile would be made like all other standard missiles and guided by an Inertial and Optical guidance system.
The Missile launcher would raise after being loaded, all observers were in safe bunkers around the area in the case of a misfire. Slowly moving up the countdown clock would start with an automated voice in Turkish stating the time left.

The ground below the missile would glow with a magnifcent brilliance for only a second with smoke blowing out the back end before launching into the sky quickly hitting Mach 1 after lifting off, the target would be watched and the missile would cruise into the upper atmosphere with an arc of smoke behind it. Cameras would flash and zoom in as it disappeared above the clouds and into the sky…

RAF Fylingdales
Security Classification: TOP SECRET

RAF Fylingdales was one of the strategic bases part of the British Armed Forces that monitored potential threats and launches across its operating area, it was quite a routine day with the usual checks taking place but always ready for any turn of events. Their morning briefings usually included discussing current world affairs and highlight potential sources of conflict. The tensions over South Africa, and the brewing problems with Turkey, Israel and Egypt, to name a few. In the control room of the radar network sat Flight Lieutenant Alex Gill who was watching the two monitors showing radar activity, investigating each one. Suddenly an item of interest occurred, a red X on the screen indicates an item of unknown origin and is potentially a missile attack. Probing this further, the stopwatch for the item begun and would time how long it was on radar for. If it entered range of another radar site, the timer would transfer across. Pressing the button on screen marked "Declare Under Investigation", this set the alert to others in the station which set it to a higher priority.

"Site Report now", he spoke out to those near by, before standing up and moving to a desk nearby, speaking to a radio which worked like a tannoy around the operations room. "This is operations, site report now, site report now." Given it was not a drill, all hands were on deck and three checks begun. For the Crew Chief to confirm it is not false reading, thus not a radar bounce back from another source. The next check was to confirm there were no problems with the radar, the technicians quickly confirmed this through a number of status checks they have on site. The final checks took place and it was confirmed to be a missile, the crew chief was quick in escalating this to the Ministry of Defence who begun a report and all information was shared from the radar station. The object would continue to be tracked, whilst another team would begin to set an alert on its origin, Turkey, as a prospect for more launches.

The Arc of the Missile continued into the sky before hitting its apex and rapidly descending, the guidance system would continue work as planned and the missile monitored by base command in Ankara, this would also serve as a good test for the Turkish Radar Network which had recently acquired Pave Paws AN/FPS-123 Radar that could detect Ballistic missiles from hundreds of miles away. As the Missile descended from the sky the coast guard vessel ~1mi out from the target would capture photos of the missile make it’s final descent. Finally as the missile cruised down, within 30 seconds of impact the thrust stopped and the missile was no longer propelled and instead focused on accurately striking its target.
Sinking down the IRBM would strike at The bow of the trawler and the entire ship would burst into hundreds of different pieces, almost completely annihilating it. Plumes of smoke would rise from the remains of the hull of the vessel and it would be broadcast on multiple small box TVs to command and the launch site. the KAAN Coast guard vessel would immediately begin sailing towards the vessel at maximum speed to check the wreckage and put out the flames of the remains of the vessel, this would be broadcasted live to the crowd back home. Numerous tests on the accuracy and efficiency would be done as to ensure all had gone to plan and the Members of the Assembly, mostly from the Minority coalition which was seeking to strike Israel were impressed. Turkey was becoming a superpower and this was the first step on a long journey to destroy Israel in their opinion, if only the majority government collapsed…
It was unknown to the Turkish that Britain would know of the test and it was assumed that since test was in the middle of the Black Sea that no nation would detect the test.

Data would be recorded and adjustments made future systems, operators now would have a better knowledge of the capabilities of their weapons and the test would be used for the development of the Yildrim IV. TOP SECRET
