Thai Anarchist Platform
Thai Anarchist Platform (TAP) is a social anarchist communist front of the Anarcho-Communist Federation (ACF) in the National Assembly. The mass organization is known for its social activism, with approximately 1.2 million members. It represents a more moderate strand of the ACP’s insistence on abolishing the Thai transitional confederated socialist republic, instead focusing on social collaboration through mutual aid. Ideologically compared to ACP, TAP is more accepting of Thailand’s current radical decentralization, noting that the Thai confederal system represents the appropriate level of voluntary association. The mass organization advocates further limitation of state power and the public sphere replacement of provincial federations as public service providers.
The TAP asserts that individual liberty and social solidarity are mutually compatible and desirable, citing Thailand’s existing achievement in guaranteeing robust civil rights. Social scientists find that a randomly selected Community Assembly member associated with TAP is more actively involved in communal affairs. Compared to the national average, a TAP member spends an extra 48 and 90 minutes performing labor in the Community Assembly, more than the average Community Assembly member and Thai citizen, respectively. Political analysts have speculated that TAP’s more moderate anarchist platform is an ACF’s deliberate strategy to maintain ideological relevance and political support.
Internationally, TAP calls for an immediate insurrection of social revolutions globally to replace capitalist nation-states with federated polities based on voluntary association. It calls for social ownership of private real property while retaining the right to personal non-productive property. The mass organization also opposes patriotism, asserting that nationality cannot divide the human population, as all people are equal. The communist front shares a philosophical perspective with the Anti-Nationalist Club that patriotism is used to subjugate the working class. Accordingly, patriotic sentiment is seen as bourgeois nationalism. Furthermore, TAP is critical of militarism and consistently advocates for global disarmament and cessation of all armed hostilities.
