The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Thailand extends its warmest regards to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and welcomes the opportunity to establish a formal channel of dialogue between our two nations. It is with great respect and optimism that we propose an official visit by His Excellency Surakiart Sathirathai, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, following the successful establishment of our respective embassies.
Thailand and Afghanistan have long shared a complex yet cooperative relationship, rooted in mutual support and economic interdependence, particularly through Thailand’s role in enhancing Afghanistan’s food security, including during the turbulent years of external conflict. While diplomatic engagement was paused due to broader geopolitical dynamics, the recent stabilization of Afghanistan’s domestic environment and the re-establishment of the Afghan Embassy in Bangkok mark a promising turning point. As the people of Afghanistan place their confidence in the newly elected social democratic government, Thailand sees an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate in advancing shared goals on social justice, economic empowerment, and the well-being of vulnerable populations.
In light of these developments, Thailand would be honored to arrange a state visit by His Excellency Surakiart Sathirathai at a time that best suits the Afghan government. This visit would offer a valuable platform to engage in high-level discussions on a range of critical global issues, including regional security, the digital divide, global health, climate resilience, and economic inequality. Additionally, we hope this meeting will allow us to explore further opportunities for trade and cooperation, particularly in the green energy sector, for the mutual benefit of our nations.
Thailand looks forward to embarking on this renewed chapter of constructive engagement, underpinned by mutual respect and shared values. We kindly await your favorable response and remain open to further dialogue at your earliest convenience.
