Minister Hana,
Thailand expresses its deepest condolences to the government and people of Iraq in the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Baghdad on December 31, 2003. We commend the Iraqi government's swift response in ensuring the safety and security of diplomatic missions in the Green Zone. Thailand stands in solidarity with Iraq during this challenging time and remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region.
The Republic of Thailand commends the Iraqi government for its swift and effective security response, which facilitated the successful evacuation of our embassy in Baghdad. We are pleased to report that there were no injuries or casualties among our personnel. Thailand expresses its full confidence in the Iraqi government's ability to restore stability and pave the way for a peaceful and unified future for the nation.
Recognizing the ongoing challenges in Iraq, including the recent surge in terrorist activity, Thailand acknowledges the capabilities of the Iraqi anti-terrorist units. We remain committed to supporting Iraq in its efforts to combat terrorism, but only within the framework of your nation's sovereignty and with your express consent. Thailand and Iraq share a strong interest in regional security. We believe that through continued cooperation, we can effectively mitigate the threat of rising extremism in Iraq.
Thailand remains steadfast in its commitment to combating terrorism globally. Please do not hesitate to inform me of any developments or specific areas where you believe our cooperation could be most beneficial.
