President Chole,

I hope your recent electoral victory has been successful to your new office’s responsibility. I congratulate you on this monumental moment in the Israeli history.

The Republic of Thailand and the State of Israel have been a reliable partner in the past, proven by our contribution in Humanitarian Mission to the 1999 during the Swedish led invasion of South Africa. Since the collapse of the world order and the United Nation in 1995, we have enjoyed a neutral, yet cordial relationship since.

With the transition to your government, as known by the political academic and scholar as the new era in Israel, Bangkok seeks to Jerusalem attention to the greater cause of the Asian continent in our shared pursuit for an epoch of prosperous, united, and democratically free Asia.

Middle East is currently in its post-war period, and the economy and the living standard of three leading nations in the part, Oman, Turkey, and Israel, are in a dire state, and this predicament is a focal point of Thailand concern in your region. The Thai Government has sent its high-level delegates to Turkey and Oman for a state visit to ensure stability of the Middle East. While our resource for a high-level state visit has been distributed to ongoing five state visits in Asia, Thailand reassured the Israel Government that their country is not neglected by us.

The development of Israel into a free developed nation is our essential goal under the principle of democratic governance and Pax Thailandia policy. We understand that time is a vital resource during this dire era, and we are committed to ensure swift action from our government to aid your nation and its people.

Therefore, I am requesting a private meeting, an audience with you, in the most convenient time possible for the discussion our Thai Israeli relations and our contribution to the Asian continent under the principle of democracy, human right, and freedom.

Please let me know your opinion. I congratulate you again for your electoral victory.

Yours in Diplomacy

Panabha Chandra-Ramy
Thai Ambassador to Isarel

Message:

Your Excellency,

Thank you for your kind message, President Weiss appreciated it strongly. As other matters are currently taking her time, the President has asked me to respond on her behalf.

This Cabinet appreciates and welcomes Thailand's interest in developing closer relations, the State of Israel is open to a formal relationship with friendly states. As such I will gladly invite you to meet with myself at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

I must inform you pre-emptively though that while it is true that Israel and Thailand share Asia as a continent, said continent is vast and the differences in needs and what works may differ even vaster. In many ways it can even be argued that Israel is more of a European state than an Asian state. While we can understand Thailand's desire to apply a singular doctrine to the entirety of that continent, what works for Thailand as far as governance and development may not be what is best for Israel. I do not say this to deter you from seeking to develop closer ties, but simply to make it clear that the State of Israel will fundamentally adhere to what is best for the people of Israel.

The State of Israel holds democracy and human rights as fundamental values that we respect beyond any other, Israel is the only true democracy in the Middle East and one that is surrounded by people that would like to see nothing other than her complete destruction. Because of this existential threat we must take measures that may somewhat contradict those values to protect their larger implementation.

I will gladly discuss this more in depth with you in person.

Sincerely,
Rachel Levy,
Minister of Foreign Affairs

"Are you prepared, Ambassador?" The voice, tender and inquisitive, belonged to the assistant of the Thai Ambassador to Israel. The room echoed with its soft resonance. The assistant's black suit, emblazoned with the Thai Foreign Ministry's emblem, spoke of the gravitas of their diplomatic mission.

"I am," responded Panabha Chandra-Ramy, the Thai Ambassador. Her suit mirrored his assistant's, save for her name, which glinted goldenly on her chest. With a firm grip on his richly hued suitcase, she made his exit from his chamber.

The assistant inquired, walking alongside her amidst the grandeur of the embassy's hall. The symphony of footsteps and murmurs stood as witness to the intense vigor of foreign affairs.

Upon reaching the threshold, a muffled thud signaled their transition to the realm outside. “We have vast resources to leverage our stand during the negotiation. I would expect no less than the favorable result for our side.” Panabha's focus shifted momentarily from her assistant as their chauffeur aligned the car to greet them.

"Miss Ambassador, Mister Panika, it's always an honor." The driver's voice carried a familiar warmth, expressing customary gratitude. "The pleasure is ours, Uncle John," replied Panabha with a genuine smile playing on her lips.

As they arrived at the Foreign Ministry of Israel, they would follow the instructions of the receptionist there, before meeting with Rachel Levy.

Upon arriving the reception would verify the Ambassador's credentials before calling up to the Minister's secretary. With confirmation that she was ready the Ambassador would be escorted to the top floor by Security. After arriving at Rachel's Office the secretary would inform the Ambassador that Rachel was still in a call and would come out as soon as she was finished.

"Thank you, madam President. We should be ready to brief the Knesset on our Americas strategy next week... Yes, see you on Friday" She placed the secure phone down on her desk before locking her laptop as to not have electronic devices as a distraction during the meeting. After standing up she would let her long brown hair down and walk out of the office to the waiting area. "Ah you must be the Ambassador from Thailand" She spoke as she walked to the one person waiting.

"Your assistance is most appreciated," Miss Panabha Chandra-Ramy conveyed her gratitude to the security at the Foreign Ministry of Israel, signaling her aide to momentarily pause outside.

"Good day, Minister. I'm Panabha Chandra-Ramy, the Thai Ambassador to Israel. However, 'Panabha' will suffice." There was a timeless elegance about her; while she was in her early thirties, traces of her radiant twenties lingered. She bestowed a genial smile upon Minister Rachel before allowing her gaze to drift backward. “Please, may you allow my assistance in the room? She is being trained to be a diplomat as well.”

Taking graceful strides into the room, her aide by her side, Panabha extended a hand to the Foreign Minister. “You are the most beautiful minister in Israel that I have ever seen. I will take your beauty as my reason to favor and entertain you today.” She chuckled, the sound rich and beguiling, before taking her seat.

Sharing a silent exchange with her aide, the unspoken understanding was palpable. Swiftly, Panika retrieved a shadowed box, which Panabha carefully positioned on the table. “Israel is a hot country, so I make sure to prepare you a drink to cool things down.” she remarked, a playful tilt to her head accompanying her words. “It’s a recent development of our country R&D sector, it has been sent from Thailand.”

With a gentle lift of the box's lid, a rush of cold enveloped the room, bringing with it the seductive notes of star anise and cardamom. Yet, as if by some marvel, the frosty ambiance swiftly mellowed to a comfortable warmth, leaving only the intoxicating aroma lingering. “This is an authentic Dark Thai iced tea, delivered directly from our country.” Offering the drink to Rachel, Panabha's eyes shimmered, maintaining an unbroken connection with the Minister's gaze.

“I have been in Israel for over 4 years now, and I genuinely appreciate the nuances of your culture. This country is more like a home to me now.” Smiling at her, she picked up another Dark Thai iced tea from her aide, which was drinking it too. “From all of Middle East, Israel is the most democratic country we have ever seen. But, with that many existential threats from the neighboring country, it is a huge hinder for your country’s human rights development.” She signed before cheering up.

“With Turkey under our indirect supervision, I believe Thailand can be your partner in ensuring that Turkey will not invade Israel again like what happened in 2001. The Thai military presence in Turkey is another testament to our dedication to the peace and stability of the Middle East, especially during its post-war period.” She paused, sipping her drink, leaving her gaze from Rachel.

“We have secured an economy aid and conditional technology transfer to Turkey, and I believe our presence in Israel would be another mark that ensure the stability of this democratic nation and the Middle East as a whole, don’t you think?” She chuckled happily.

"I have no problem with your assistant joining us, no" Rachel replied before motioning for all to walk back into her office. As she sat down behind her desk and received the influx of flattery she began to develop the feeling Thailand had sent a salesperson as their Ambassador. Then again with diplomacy often being comparable to sales that made some sense too.

Rachel would humor her guests and take the tea, admittedly it was quite delicious. However with the speed the Ambassador seemed to move from topic to topic she did grow suspicious of what exactly was inside of it. Once she finished speaking and Rachel could finally jump in she would take the chance. "Forgive me, Panabha. I appreciate your oratory efforts but I fear we may be at risk of missing the forest for the trees. What are you concretely proposing for the Israeli-Thai relation? An understanding, an agreement, a project?"

“Haha, interesting. You won’t let us have a moment of comfort beforehand, will you?” She chuckled as her eyes began piercing though Rachel’s soul.

“I am not seeking anything that you have said, Minister Rachel.” She paused, smiling. “I seek democracy and human rights commitment, which is a corner stone for us before any collaboration between our nations would emerge.” She picked up her Thai tea to drink. “However, I understand e Israel's unique situation, surrounded by nations with often adversarial intentions, and therefore, its complex balancing act between security and human rights. Am I right?” A mischievous grin appeared on her mouth.

“Thailand has been keeping a close eye on the Middle East affairs, and we are acutely aware of your proposed legislation to end the recognition of the State of Palestine.” She paused again, letting her words sink in. “With Israel being in a weakened state, there is much to gain from our partnership, be it through security, economy, or culture.” He chuckled under her breath.

“Our mission in the Middle East is to ensure the stability, security of this region along with promoting the democratic governance and human rights. We are in a position to host regional dialogue involving key stakeholders, facilitated by Thailand, to address the long-standing issue.” After a sip of her Thai tea, she would continue.

“Thailand's booming economy can be a significant boon for Israel, which is currently struggling. If we foster our trade relations, Thailand offers economic assistance and technology transfer, it is a win-win for both sides. Moreover, Thailand has a solid presence in the Middle East, and given Israel resilience proven in the past, a Strategic Alliance between our nation would be the best for your nation self-determination and the peace of the Middle East, don’t you agree?” She glared at her.

"In general I prefer to get the business out in advance so more time is left for comfort after the fact." Rachel replied with a smile at the first question.

"You are correct, while we are the only true democracy in the Middle East and respect human rights, because we are the only true democracy in the Middle East we unfortunately have often been forced to engage in excessive measures to guarantee that our neighbors would not overwhelm us, as they have promised nothing less than the complete extermination of the Jewish people. As was evidenced by their expulsions of my people in the 1940's and 50's. We are of course willing to hear out Thailand's attempt to establish dialogue with our enemies. However, I must caution you that many have tried before and from my people's history I can tell you that once one side is committed to the genocide of the Jewish people they do not often listen to reason anymore.

We are however looking for aid to revamp our defense sectors. If Thailand were in a position to provide some form of direct financial aid to Israel, we would certainly be in a better position to implement more far-reaching civil rights protections and bring an end to the ongoing hostilities with Palestine faster and establish a state where Jews, Arabs, Christians and everyone else can live in peace."

“That’s great to hear, Minister Rachel. I am tired of too much diplomatic niceties too.” Panabha giggled back at her.

“The Thai Government is indeed willing to use its diplomatic reach to facilitate a dialogue between the two sides: Israel and Palestine. But we are not only doing it for the sake of diplomatic study, but we are also serious in ensuring the peace, stability, and security of this region, the Middle East. This region is a tinderbox for international stability, economy, peace, and security. Anything that alters or harms the already fragile and delicate balance of this region will have a direct backlash on the democratic transition of each country we are facilitating. The policy to abolish the two-state solution which has been the backbone of peace negotiation and dialogue for decades is not something that our government can ignore, as the life of our fellow human being is the one on the line. Whether it is innocent Palestinian or Israeli, they are all people, just like us. We share everything the same, and none of us has any higher privileges than others.” She paused, letting her words sink. As she glared at the Minister Rachel, she would continue.

“I must cautious you against your request or any action further from this. While the population of Israel has chosen their leader to fulfill the promise of unification, this is an extremely sensitive subject that require utmost contemplation. Thailand is in any position to provide a direct financial aid to any country in Asia, but we cannot fund war machine for a country that ignite war themselves.” She paused again, sipping her Thai tea.

“However, I comprehend your situation and would love to hear more of your current approach to this situation. We might find common grounds from ongoing dialogue.”

"With all due respect, Ambassador. But you are making the exact same mistake many empires before you have. A process of democratization without drastic border changes in the Middle East is a pipedream. Thailand got to establish its own borders, even most of the other former colonial East Asian and South-East Asian countries were fundamentally allowed to remain within the borders that matched the nations within them. Much more than even Africa, the Middle East has been the playground of empires since biblical times. Syria, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Jordan, none of our countries defined our borders. Before an area can become democratic, it must first become secure. Israel is unique in that despite nearly a full war every decade since our creation and permanent state-supported terrorism in between we did managed to create democratic institutions. More than that we became frontrunners. Whether it is the acceptance of sexuality, gender identity, religion, medical autonomy, each of these areas we are ahead of not even just our neighbors but in reality even most of Europe, Asia and North America. Especially when we add less traditional human rights such as healthcare." She paused for a second to take a sip of water. "You expect to teach us how we should govern our countries and how we should construct our region, but how can you teach us when your own state benefitted from a largely homogenous population with very little friction inside its borders. The reality that the west for decades refused to accept and you too now also seem to reject the realities on the ground. That reality is that the so called Palestinian National Authority is a government in name only. It does not control Gaza, and even in the West Bank it is rejected by large amounts of the population. It is not democratic, it does not grant meaningful rights to Palestinians, it does not provide any meaningful services. Meanwhile the people in Gaza are under a theocratic extremist movement. At the same time a Palestinian in Israel has the right to practice their faith, they are provided government healthcare, they work with their Jewish, Christian and other citizens, their children can go to school, they are protected from crime, they can dress the way they want, they can love who they want, they can protest my President and her government, and every two years they can go to the voting booth and change the government that represents them. Palestinians under Israel have way better lives than any Palestinian has in the Palestinian Territories. We are not looking to conquer their territory, ethnically cleanse their people, or force them to convert or die. Three things, they do want to do to us. Instead we want to fix the unworkable borders that is the two-state solution and establish a multi-ethnic, multi-religious state where we will all be one people, regardless of faith, sexuality, gender or anything else. We do not seek to conquer Palestine, we are seeking to liberate it. If you think the two-state solution is desirable over being part of Israel, I will happily have you flown to Haifa and you can ask the Palestinians there if they would rather be part of Israel or have their own state. Now, if you do not want to fund our efforts to fund that goal, that is okay. We will be fine without Thai aid. However do not expect us to continue to subject ourselves to constant rocket attacks while these so called free Palestinians die sooner, suffer more, and have less right than the 'occupied' Palestinians in Israel"

Sighing out of disappointed, Thai ambassador responded.

"We commend Israel's democratic institutions and its progress in human rights. These are values Thailand deeply respects. However, democracy isn't just about majority rule but also about safeguarding minority rights, wouldn't you agree? Your government's unilateral decision to end the two-state solution, while democratically arrived at within Israel, has implications that stretch far beyond your borders. Democracy doesn't exist in a vacuum, Minister Rachel. It's a global commitment. Self-determination is a cornerstone of democracy and international law. While Israel has made its choice clear, where does this leave the Palestinians? A democracy that doesn't consider the voice of every stakeholder is incomplete, to say the least. Thailand is deeply committed to human rights, as you've noted. An all-out invasion would undoubtedly result in civilian casualties, something that would be antithetical to the democratic and human rights values we both claim to uphold. Can Israel afford such a moral cost? We offer our role as a mediator not as a challenge but as an opportunity. An opportunity for Israel to demonstrate its commitment to peace and democracy on a global stage. The world is watching, Minister Rachel, and history seldom forgets. While we are in a position to offer substantial financial and technological aid, such assistance would be contingent upon a commitment to peaceful, negotiated solutions. We can't, in good conscience, fund actions that could lead to human suffering. As one of the world's dominant powers, Thailand's diplomatic relationships carry weight. Our friendship with the UK and the US is not just a statement but a commitment to shared values. It would be unfortunate if Israel found itself isolated due to choices that are, frankly, avoidable."

"Ambassador, we are arguing in circles. I have more than once indicated how Palestinians are better off under a single state. Already Palestinians within Israeli territory have a better life expectancy, more civil rights, greater freedoms and a direct say in the affairs of the Israeli state. These same rights would be granted to any Palestinian that were to join the Israeli state. The two-state solution is unworkable. That is one of the very few things we agree on with Palestine. While the use of force is our absolute last resort to bring about unification, and currently there are in fact no plans to use force, leaving Palestinians under the yoke of terrorists is what kills civilian lives. Even the worst case scenario would cost less lives than leaving Hamas to continue governing the Palestinian people. My people and the Palestinians have suffered for the better half of a century because foreign powers decided their interpretation of democracy should apply to a territory on the other side of the world. We do not plan on going back to that. We do not need Thai aid, at this stage we do not even want it. Now unless you have anything else to bring up I suggest we conclude this meeting"

After hearing such an arrogant word from a Foreign Minister of a nation that claim to be a beacon of democracy in Middle East, the Thai ambassador would be engulfed by the existential crisis. After taking a few inhales and exhales, she would signal her assistance the time for leave, yet she needed to be clear, for the sake of humanity.

"Minister Rachel, let's be clear. Your government's unilateral decision to end the two-state solution is a flagrant violation of international law and a betrayal of the democratic values you claim to uphold. It's not just undemocratic; it's imperialistic. You speak of democracy, yet you're willing to silence an entire people. Is this your version of democracy? Or is it a convenient facade? We understand that Israel exists in a complex geopolitical context, surrounded by nations often hostile to its existence. However, complexity should not be an excuse for unilateral decisions that affect millions of lives. International law exists for a reason. It's the framework that allows different nations to coexist peacefully. Ignoring it not only undermines your position but also sets a dangerous precedent. What is your endgame here? Even if you succeed in the short term, what kind of long-lasting peace do you expect to achieve by ignoring the rights and aspirations of the Palestinian people? Your actions don't just affect Israel and Palestine; they have ripple effects throughout the Middle East and the world. Are you prepared to bear the responsibility for destabilizing an already volatile region?" She paused, before quickly regained the pace.

"Thailand's alliances are not just military or economic; they are moral. If Israel proceeds with this invasion, you will find yourself isolated, not just from Thailand but from the community of nations that respect human rights and international law. Let's not forget, Thailand has a significant military command in Turkey. Our commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East is not just rhetorical; it's operational. An invasion would not only be a humanitarian disaster but could also escalate into a broader conflict. Given our military presence in Turkey, we would be forced to reassess our regional strategy, including our military commitments. Your actions could have serious repercussions on your relationship with Turkey, a country where we have considerable influence. Are you prepared for the diplomatic fallout? Your actions will not only isolate you diplomatically but will also erode your moral authority. How can Israel claim to be a beacon of democracy and human rights while taking such aggressive actions?" After pausing again and her assistance had prepared everything, she would shoot a last blow.

"Don't mistake our previous discussions of aid as a blank check. Thailand will not fund, directly or indirectly, any actions that lead to human suffering and violate international law. Thailand is a dominant power, not just in Asia but globally. Our decisions influence international policy and opinion. Understand that our disapproval will resonate far beyond this room. We have a moral responsibility to uphold the principles of justice, democracy, and human rights. We will not shy away from that responsibility, even if it means taking a stand against allies. Our economies are interconnected in this globalized world. If you proceed with this invasion, be prepared for economic consequences that will affect not just you but your allies as well. Your actions today will echo in our diplomatic relations for years to come. This isn't just about Palestine; it's about the kind of nation Israel chooses to be on the world stage." With her about to conclude, her sigh would be followed by a finishing statement.

"We came here in the spirit of dialogue and peace. It's clear that those are not your government's priorities. This meeting is over, and so is any illusion of partnership between our nations under the current circumstances."

She would quickly leave the room, leaving no chance for the Israeli Minister to say anything

The advantage of meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, meant Rachel could quite easily deny the Ambassador their exit initially and deprive them of the ability to deflect a response. "Ambassador, any country who must say 'We are a world power' is no true world power. We granted you this meeting out of common decency but your words hold no strength here. Your threats do not intimidate us. You suffer from delusions of grandeur, and some day you will encounter someone who does not just wave off your threats but actually responds to them. You have considered none of our arguments, you have no clue of how the region works, and now you think you can play world police. The times of a unipolar or even a bipolar order determining international affairs is over. We have returned to the times where nations and regions define their own borders. Israel is not a state for just the Jews. Israel is a state for all who live within in it. Be they Jewish, Druze, Circassian, Armenian or yes Palestinian. You claim to care about lives yet you are willing to let a status quo persist where a rump state is entirely dependent on others. Palestine uses our power, they use our water, they receive gas through us. For all intents and purposes they are already part of Israel and if we decided to cut them off they would collapse in days. We don't do this because we are seemingly the only ones who care about the people, instead of some senseless borders. Meanwhile they live under anarchic conditions, they have no meaningful central government, their children are recruited to become fighters against us, and they fight each other more than any others. If we integrated Palestine it would bring democracy, human rights and a decent living standard to a people that have been deprived of all three for nearly a century. You want to prevent this, all because decades ago some white men in a room far from here decided that this is the way the region should be structured. Thailand may react as it will, we will do what we must do to finally bring peace to this region. For all the people within it." She paused for a moment to unlock the door from her desk. "As for aid, tell your government Israel does not need any aid from the likes of them"
