I am writing to you on this day to propose that we arrange for the Prime Minister of the Republic of Thailand and His Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Poland to speak over the phone. It's clear that the Thai government,to put it mildly, made a strategic error in a recent foreign affairs-related matter. Our Prime Minister finally had time to really focus on the state of the Thai-Polish relationship after several taxing months of government.

Even though Prime Minister Thaksin spoke about the declining relationship between Thailand and Poland, the National Intelligence Agency's internal division did not provide him with access to the actual events. Evidently, I strongly advise you not to bring up any subject pertaining to the Thai-Polish relationship with me, as I think that direct communication between the leaders of our two nations will be more fruitful. Right now, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is prepared to talk about this as he has access to all relevant information.

If you are in favour of it, please suggest the precise window of time when His Majesty—or the Prime Minister, if the Polish people prefer—will be available. The timeframe you suggest, to start at 8 am local Polish time, is acceptable to us. Prime Minister Thaksin is engaged in diplomatic communication with His Majesty, King Stanislaus Grabowski to explore rapprochement options to mend our long-standing relationship. The video call format is very suitable, especially given the ever-progressing state of technology in our interconnected world.

Perhaps we could use the software called Skype, a VoIP-based videotelephony application from an American company called Microsoft? It is the most popular telecommunication application int he present, and our government also has public-private contracts with their business to use their software.

Is there anything you would like to add to further solidify our protocol during the video conference? Please let me know your opinion.

Despite the necessary precautions of recording the video call for the security and safety of the administration, the phone call would be placed over the less secure Skype call rather than the Cisco Webex that Poland preferred to utilize for it's video conferences at the behest of the Thai government. They paid little mind to the misidentification of the owner of Skype as Microsoft when Ebay was clearly the owner of the service, attributing it to a failure of the translation team on either end of their respective Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The call would be sent through an encrypted connection to prevent intrusions on their end of the call but they also ran a screen capture software that would allow them to record both sides of the conversation with little interference with the quality of the call. While the rhythmic and chiming ring of the Skype call was sent towards the Thai, King Stanislaus Grabowski sat at the other end of the small table with a notepad, pens, and a pitcher of water. He had given up smoking for his health after the birth of his daughter who was approaching two years old. Once the call was answered he would wait for the Thai Prime Minster to offer his greetings before offering his own.

A stark contrast to the Thai conference room, the Polish one was kept minimalistic. The King was never a fan of showboating wealth, even as a young up-and-coming politician with the former Republic of Poland. And this is what garnered him the attention of the people. Where previous politicians had spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy luxury cars and mansions while also padding businesses they held stocks in, Stanislaus wore a simple suit bought second hand at a thrift shop and then his mother tailored to fit him better. It was in this very same suit that he walked arm-in-arm with Polish citizens during the protests that lead to his reign as King of Poland. He was not impressed with showboating and considered it to be a toxic form of masculinity that had no business in running a nation. But his face did not show this, instead his carefully groomed, bearded face bore a peaceful smile he had come to be known for. Much like a father looking upon his children as they played. The same suit he had worn on those protests adorned his body as he sat opposite the camera and the video of the Thai Prime Minister.

"Thank you Thaksin for your warm greetings. I apologize if I am incorrect for the use of your primary name, as I have been told it is actually frowned upon to refer to someone by their title or surname as is common practice in the west." Stanislaus would return the wai greeting to his Thai counterpart.

Stanislaus would let the Thai Prime Minister talk and continue his slideshow without interruption as he carefully jotted notes down in a simple, yet incredibly neat, cursive style of writing, in his native Polish. Notes would be made regarding everything the Thai Minister said, and the Polish King would only occasionally glance down at his paper as he wrote to insure his handwriting stayed within the lines of the legal pad of paper. Once the Prime Minister finished speaking, Stanislaus would gently place the cap back onto the pen before placing it diagonally across the legal pad of paper.

"I appreciate your candor and the apologies for the actions of your Middle-East Command and your National Intelligence Agency. This is truly turning into a diplomatic discourse I can get behind, however, there are a few things I must also say on the matter." Stanislaus would clasp his hands together and place them against the table in front of him, elbows perched off the side of the table. His mother had always told him to never place his elbows on a table.

"With the Middle-East Command and the National Intelligence Agency leaking classified documents without your approval, are you certain that they would not conduct an intelligence operation on foreign soil without your approval as well? While their intention may not have been directed towards harming polis citizens or disrupting my nation's sovereignty but they were caught on Polish soil and one of the agents was caught conversing with a member of the Sejm, posing as a prostitute if I read the report correctly." He himself would pull a photo on the screen showing one of the female operatives conversing with a man in a grey suit on the side of the street. This was taken before the classified operation was set to undertake. Also, we have reason to believe the spies were operating encrypted satellite phones on board our vessels to inform your NIA of our ship's locations and the nature of the mission despite the ships declaring a communications blackout. While that instance is not legal reason to detain them, it does cast into doubt your NIA's capability of telling you the truth but also calls into question their statement that they undoubtedly informed you that they have endangered the lives of Polish citizens. If a hostile nation had decided to attack the Polish fleet in the Med and got their position off of the encrypted satellite communications, we would be at a much worse crossroads, Thaksin. Much worse." The smile had changed from that of a father looking lovingly upon his children to that of one disappointed with the antics of those children.

"I, and Poland itself, have always considered Thailand a friend. As close a friend as Ukraine at its height. But upon achieving the status of 'world power' your nation has changed from the peaceful nation I held close to my heart to one that continues to push its weight across the globe despite repeated warnings from myself to you personally. I have always tried to advise you as a friend even when met with snark. I still consider you to be a personal friend, Thaksin, but I don't see a way forward in a friendship with Thailand if it continues to act like the United States does when it is not needed." Stanislaus' voice remained calm and collected as he spoke, his brisk baritone sounding like honeyed whiskey as he spoke.

"You show these slides as if to showboat your nation's excellence and yet you have not acknowledged your shortcomings. While Poland's navy may not have as many carriers as your own, it is still capable of deploying to any part of the world within a matter of days without the need to stop and refuel at forward bases. With Poland's collection of foreign bases, Poland's air and land forces are capable of deploying to most places in the world in a matter of hours with the use of aerial refueling. Poland is not far from being a world power such as yourself. I suspect the only thing from holding that title ourselves is the fact we have had no need to deploy forces except on humanitarian missions. Your own naval forces ran into a small contingent of Polish Naval Forces around the Timor Sea, yes?"

The screen would show an audio clip of the interaction between the Thai ships and the Polish flag ship the OKP Huragon. "But I do not like to brag about what I have done. Nor do I like to brag about what I plan on doing. I lead that to my Ministers and their deputies. What I do is try my best to improve the lives of my people. Which is why Poland has never been in debt. Not once has our royal treasury dipped to below what we could safely afford to purchase. I think at the current time, according to public data, Poland could safely purchase the entirety of Thailand's debt and still have just over a billion dollars in the treasury. That is the kind of bragging I do not like doing as it is pointless and reduces us to squabbling children who argue about who parent is better than the others. I want inclusivity and comradery between nations, which is the same goal you seek, no?"

"And while I appreciate the offer to support Poland and aid in safeguarding my nation's interests and sovereignty, I do not feel it is necessary. Poland is more than capable of defending its interests at home and abroad. You are the second nation in the history of Poland to even hint at offering an assurance of independence. You have been the only nation to do so openly, and you have done it twice now. While I respect Thailand's position in the world, you too must respect Poland's position in the world as well. While Poland appears small and harmless, we are like the falcon. Easily oversized by our competitors but none can match the speed or tenacity of our people. It is why our knights of old wore their feathers on their backs to give them the speed of the falcon to strike the Ottomans from Europe. Which they did. When taken over by the Nazis in the forties, our people did not bow down but insured the safety of hundreds of thousands of Jews while also taking the fight to the Nazi's with the 303rd Squadron. After the Russians took over, the Polish people once more brought the fight to the Communists and actively fought against their corrupt regime. The Polish people always win in the end. Always."

"But that does not mean Poland cannot be friends with Thailand. It just means that the trust between our two nations have been broken, just as the trust between your NIA and Middle-East Command has broken the trust with yourself. And trust is easily lost but hard earned."

He would cease his own soapbox talk to pour the glass about halfway full of water before setting the pitcher down and taking a drink from the glass. He would motion towards Thaksin with his palm upwards to show that it was his turn for a rebuttal.

Stanislaus would listen to his Thai counterpart explain his position on the multitude of stances that his had expressed concern about. He maintained his own cool head during the Thai man speaking before him and would continue to jot notes onto his pad of paper as the man spoke. He was truly hopeful the discourse would continue to be fruitful and he knew, in the back of his mind, that he mustn't let his distaste of politicians distract his mind from forming a bond with the Thai people.

"I apologize if my appearance does not do your culture justice in that regard. I have a responsibility to insure the wellbeing of all people living within Poland's borders."

One option would be to turn over those responsible for the dissemination of classified information over to Polish authorities to face trial for their actions against the Polish crown. Though, I doubt the Thai people would look favorable upon one of their citizens facing possible execution for their actions and then being handed over to the nation that was going to put them on trial without a fight."
