Dear Minister Odenberg,
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am an official Thai Ambassador to the Kingdom of Sweden. I must maintain diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Sweden and promote foreign policy strategies through international organizations. It is my honor to be in contact with you.
The Foreign Ministry has instructed me to schedule a time for the negotiation regarding the Royal Thai Navy Procurement between October and December; it is when our parliament has finalized the new fiscal year. As an ambassador to Sweden, our most prioritized and faithful international partner, I have a busy agenda with my colleagues, and I have frequent schedules to meet Thai and Swedish people in Sweden. I understand that you might be in a mostly occupied timetable with your new position in the office. I want to have a meeting with you scheduled in advance. It will give us reasonable free time to discuss and negotiate. I want to inquire if you have extra free time between October and December when we can meet.
The Royal Thai Navy wants to expand its naval capabilities, and they desire to procure 44 Valour-class frigates from the Swedish Government. Given our two countries' positive and friendly relationship, we have cooperated from economic to military exchange. We are entering the third year of our Thai-Swedish close ties partnership, and our Government is committed to strengthening our relationship further. With our country's politics and Government becoming more stabilized, your negotiation approval will significantly benefit the definitiveness of the Defence Ministry debate in the parliament during the budget allocation. The deal we offer will generate immense revenue for Sweden, create jobs, and boost its economy. It will mark our long-term partnership devotion to trade and business collaboration and development.
Thailand and Sweden are committed to global security and peacekeeping efforts, and both nations have a history of playing an active role in maintaining international peace and security. The purchase of 44 Valour-class Frigates would further strengthen our shared military interests by enhancing our maritime security capabilities and enabling us to collaborate on joint military exercises and operations. The Frigates would also support our mutual goal of combating transnational threats such as piracy, terrorism, and smuggling. By cooperating with Sweden, we can leverage our strengths and experience to create a more secure and stable region and world.
In closing, I would like to thank you for your attention to this matter and express my sincere hope that we can schedule a meeting between October and December to discuss the Royal Thai Navy's procurement of Valour-class frigates. We believe that this partnership would benefit both of our countries, not only in economic terms but also in strengthening our shared military interests and global security efforts. I look forward to hearing from you soon and discussing this matter further.
Sincerely
Kanchana Patarachoke
Ambassador to Sweden
Republic of Thailand
