Empress Maria Coronated on The Acropolis

Empress Maria, referred to as "Augusta" by the general population, was secretly coronated last night as the Empress of the Roman Empire by officials from the Orthodox Church, the state, and the Golden Sun party. Little information has been released about Augusta, other than she is a member of the House of Glücksburg and she is 17 years old. The media and the general public were not allowed to attend the coronation which only permitted a select few citizens, most of whom are in the Senate, to attend. The Magistracy of State announced that former Greek Prime Minister and current leader of the Golden Sun party, Vassilis Drakos, was appointed Chief Magistrate by the Empress, which is a newly created bureaucratic position akin to Prime Minister. Citizen Drakos is not only a Senator, but was First Senator, which is an honorary, non-voting position in the Senate which means he is the most senior member. He made a statement, which said he wished for the Senate to bestow the honor upon someone else once they confirmed him as Chief Magistrate.

Citizen Drakos announced that a number of citizens were being granted magistracies. According to the Chief Magistrate, some of these positions were appointed by the him, most were appointed by the Senate, and a few were appointed by Augusta.

The Chief Magistrate announced that the national curfew will end in three days, but that the legions will continue to patrol the streets of cities such as Athens. When asked about international relations, Citizen Drakos said that the new Magistracy of Foreign Relations was open but, as of yet, has received no communications from the outside world.

Glory to Rome and long live Augusta.
