Operation Mamluk- 2000

Operation Participants:

Coast Guard Forces of the Republic of Turkey
Gendarmerie Forces of the Republic of Turkey
Radar and Air Defense Forces of the Republic of Turkey
Navy Forces of the Republic of Turkey

Top Secret/Secure Information
Operation Background

Short Overview: Defensive systems for Foreign Incursions via air and sea have been activated Across Turkey. This includes a multitude of SAM/Point Defense systems across Turkish Provinces and Cites along with activation of coastal missile systems and Coast Guard Vessels. These accompany defenses built by the National Defense Project in 1999 to defend Turkish Cities from Attack. Defense Project link here.

Following a number of condemnations and possible interference by foreign powers due to the fair and just actions taken by the Greater republic to ensure Middle Eastern Stability it has been decided that a 24/7 Coastal Defense Operation is needed to ensure the saftey and security of Turkish Territorial Waters. Therefore the Coastal Guard Services have been officially activated in order to patrol Turkish territorial waters for possible foreign vessels, aircraft, or Intelligence services. Part of this operation will be the enforcement of a total military and civilian travel ban for naval craft through the straits, this will ensure the safety of the northern coast from foreign incursions. Additionally, Coastal Defense platforms will be activated so that if potential conflict breaks out between another foreign power and Turkey They will pay a high price due to the advanced anti ship missile system along the southern coast.

To assist the Coast guard services with patrolling the largest amount of area possible the Gendarmerie forces will deploy aircraft and UAVs to scan the waters for foreign vessels. Finally radar systems will be operated along the coast to ensure no aerial or naval incursions occur unnoticed, 25 SEDAR Coastal radar systems will be put on high alert along the coast, along with 12 Lockheed AN/FPS-117 radars.

Coast Guard crews will rotate for light vessels in order to ensure well rested and serviced crews. These swaps will happen every so often and is dependent on the vessel type. Aircraft will also rotate to refuel and complete other duties.

Rapier FSB Systems would be place within a few hundred feet of all Coastal Missile/ballistic systems, exactly 1 per system. So, if there are 8 different missile platforms in the same area then 8 Rapier SAM systems would accompany them.

Oerlikon GDF systems would be placed in Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Antalya, Gölcük, Adana, Kocaeli With 15 installed in proper positions citywide and crewed by air defense operators. 3 Rapier SAM systems will also be placed in these cities for short range air defense.

Operation Mamluk
Top Secret-2000
Republic of Turkey Ministry of Defense
Casualties: 0
Equipment Losses: 0
Order of Operations

Preparation & Loading of Naval Vessels & Aircraft - Complete
SAM, AA, Radar, Costal Defense Systems Operational - Complete
Deployment of Naval Vessels from Home Ports - Complete
Deployment of Patrol Aircraft Over Territorial Waters - Complete
Patrol of Naval Craft in Territorial Waters- Active
Regular Patrols of Territorial Waters by Naval Vessels - Active
Replenishment of Hovercraft and Dost kann class by Akar Class Replenishment Vessels - Inactive

Thousands of Turkish Sailors at the two largest Turkish Naval Bases, Aksaz Naval Base and Gölcük Naval Base would begin preparations for the deployment of 59 Surface Vessels, more than any previous operation or exercise in Turkey’s recent history. The Operation Occlude exercise was the last time many of these sailors had set sail but were prepared due to the readiness training they received during their first deoployment. Hovercraft would take priority when departing and set sail in an organized manner to begin Patrols of the Northern and Southern Coastline. Approximately 7 Hovercraft would monitor the Southern Coastline, 3 for the west and Straits, and 5 for the northern Baltic Coastline. Meanwhile, once the major vessels departed coast guard vessels would be deployed on both coastal defense and civilian missions, with crew trained in close quarters combat and naval warfare. One by one vessels would depart from the Turkish Ports and begin the massive defensive operation.

At the Same time fully equipped helicopters from the Gendarmerie would begin patrols of the Straits, Northern, Southern, and Western Coastlines. The Helicopters would make patrols every few hours a few km from the coast of major cities/portsand would not venture away from populated areas. The TAI Martı Droneswould be deployed as well to Monitor 30km out from the Coast but had no radar and relied on sunlight/thermal imaging to detect hostiles. They would be exclusively used during the day by their operators and patrol the entire coastline and Islands for large surface vessels.

Radar Systems would be fully functional and command would relay back radar scans to Coastal Defense systems that were already in their assigned positions weeks before the operation started. These Missile systems would rotate crews out to ensure readiness by the Crews. In Addition it had been recently added that Rapier SAM systems would accompany all Coastal Defense Systems in order to ensure they were protected by enemy aircraft. Crew would constantly monitor these systems for activity on air radars that were connected to the Lockheed AN/FPS-117 Radar Network. Cities would have all Air Defense Systems up and running already and Turkish Citizens would be advised to stay away from the concrete air defense towers set up in the NDP.

Overall this phase would have naval and aerial craft begin deployment while all stationary defense systems would be operational and ready to fire at a moments notice.

All vessels at this point would be deployed(Equipped and armed with all mentioned weaponry) and on active deployments across the Turkish Coastline, searching for any surface craft that could be small enough to avoid SEDAR LPI Radars. Additionally the Coast Guard Command would deploy four more Surface craft to the deployment in order to bolster defenses against under sea threats. The Meko 200 Class frigates would be equipped with Thomson Sintra Spherion B Mod 5; hull-mounted; active search and attack; medium frequency Sonar as well as having a towed array. These systems would allow for easy detection of any submarine inside Turkish Territorial waters and outside of them as well(Since the depth of the Eastern Mediterranean and Baltic close attack range of the Turkish Shore is relatively shallow), with capabilities to fire apon enemy subs. These vessels would be spit up so that three patrolled the western and southern coasts while a single vessel would patrol the Straits and Northern Coastline. Once Sonar detects any submarines then the vessel will send coordinates to command and land based missiles will fire into the area(used as last resort if vessel based depth charges and torpedoes are ineffective).

The Operation would be fully underway and the National readiness and that of the coastal defenders would be that of a nation preparing for war, especially after the President‘s recent demand to the west. All of this is Top Secret
