Minister Bot,

The devolving situation in France has become exceptionally concerning, especially because there are over 150,000 Americans in the country. The Department of State has changed its travel recommendations for France to "Do Not Travel" and has encouraged all Americans in France to leave the country as soon as possible. However, if they are not able to get a direct flight back to the United States, Americans in France are being encouraged to travel to the United Kingdom or Sweden and then return home from there. Due to the high volume of Americans expected to be leaving France, the State Department is requesting that the Dutch Government give refuge to any American citizen with a valid passport that is attempting to enter The Netherlands. At this time, American airlines are being encouraged by the Federal Government to prepare to increase flights from The Netherlands to the United States to bring Americans home.

Dear Ambassador,

The Netherlands will open its arms to support any American citizens attempting to flee the situation in France. US citizens will be able to apply for emergency transit visas at any border checkpoint, including at land borders, ports and airports. This will allow them to remain in the Netherlands for up to 30 days.

Please ensure that the US embassy and consulates in the Netherlands initiate a public campaign to inform your citizens of these provisions in order to avoid any unecessary violations of this visa.
