CONTEXT
Due to increasing global tensions, specifically in Europe, the decision was made to deploy two destroyers to the Mediterranean Sea. Most of the crews did not know their missions yet, but the Captain and Executive Officer for both destroyers did. The crews for both of the destroyers were assembled at their respective ports and preparations were made for them to disembark out to the Atlantic Ocean. The destroyers were armed and supplies were brought onto the destroyers in a timely manner so that the ships would be able to sustain themselves. The deployment of the destroyers was secret and not publicized in the press. Once the vessels were deployed, the sailed out together into the Atlantic at six in the morning.
