The Federal Government and the State Department are both pleased to hear that the France has a stable and functioning government that can ensure the safety, security, and prosperity of the French people. France was the first ally of the United States. Your nation directly assisted our republic at a time when we had been facing defeat after defeat against the British Empire. This is something that the American People will never forget.

I am writing to you to request that Ambassador Robert T. Langlois be allowed to continue to lead the United States's diplomatic mission in Paris. I can personally attest to his qualifications and his passion for the French language and the French people that today reside in North America.

I am pleased to inform you that France is fully committed to reestablishing diplomatic relations with the United States of America and maintaining the open channels of communication between our people. As such, we welcome the continuation of Ambassador Robert T. Langlois' work here in Paris.

As two longstanding democracies with shared values and interests, we believe that strengthening our relationship is of great importance. Whether it is promoting democracy, protecting human rights, or combating rogue and aggressive nations, we have a long history of working together on global issues, and we believe that this partnership can be further developed through reestablishment of relations.

We believe that a strong diplomatic relationship between our nations would allow us to work together more effectively on a wide range of issues, from trade and economic cooperation to security and global challenges.

We would be honored to host a high-level delegation from your government to discuss this matter further and explore ways which we could work together to strengthen our relationship. Such a meeting would be invaluable to exchange ideas and perspectives, and to lay the groundwork for a productive and mutually beneficial partnership.

I also wished to take this opportunity to personally express my appreciation for the United States' longstanding support of France, particularly during times of crisis.
