In the mid-evening, Vlad Filotti, Chief of Defense of Romania, made every single newspaper and station in the country. That morning he had received a DNA test result. He had heard tales throughout his childhood that he had the blood of Vlad III, Vlad Dracula, in him. He, of course, had never believed it. It was an absurd notion, that he, a poor boy in a poorer town, was a descendent of the greatest hero of Romania. He had lived his life, joined the army at 18, and fought against the anti-communist revolutionaries when they took up arms. He left the army after they took control, but once the socialist government took over he joined again and climbed the ranks, one of Petre Mocanu's favorite generals.
The populace began to love him for his strong demeanor, and his patriotic and socialist fervor made him very easy to portray as a symbol for the Romanian military. He was promoted to general of the army, and at 32 he set the job aside and took the position of Chief of Defense. From there he became entwined in the political world, becoming a well trusted and liked man for his honesty. But one thing kept bugging him. Those tales from his childhood had never left him and seeing the new technology coming out today and his newfound wealth, he decided to take a chance and paid for a DNA test to find out if it was true. And that was possibly the best investment of his life. He was a direct descendant of Vlad the Impaler. In light of this new discovery, he abandoned his last name, Fiotti, and adopted the dynastic name Dracula. He had taken the same position as the most famous man in all of Romanian history. He was the Successor. Vlad Dracula VIII of Romania, Vlad the Successor.
At this, the public went wild. He soon surpassed even Petre Mocanu in popularity, and he began making speeches every day of the week. The public simply couldn't get enough. He decided to take a day of Isolation, praying to god. It should be noted that, just like Vlad the Impaler, he was a converted Catholic, converted from Orthodox Christianity.
