MINISTER FOR POLICE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES |
SECURITY CLASSIFICATION: PROTECTED (ENCRYPTED) |
4 September 2005 |
Dear Minister Lambert, On behalf of the Government of Western Australia, please allow me to pass on my condolences for the recent destruction and loss of life on the island of Mayotte. Western Australia shares the Indian Ocean with Mayotte and we know first hand just how destructive Indian Ocean cyclones can be, being the state which receives by far the most cyclone crossings in Australia. Because of this, our Department of Fire and Emergency Services, particularly our State Emergency Service, prides itself as world leaders in cyclone response and recovery. We would like to offer, on behalf of the Government of Western Australia, assets and personnel from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services to be deployed to Mayotte to assist with this recovery effort. Yours sincerely, Michelle Roberts. |
