A official request to the American Embassy would be sent by The Prime Minister of Portugal, which would evoke the right to speak with the ambassador. He would be expected to arrive at the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at his earliest convenience.

Ambassador Vincent Ford, the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Portugal and the Algarves, received the notice that the Prime Minister wished to meet with him. The ambassador immediately prepared himself to meet with the Prime Minister and had his office send a secure response to the Prime Minister's office, informing him that he would be over shortly. Ambassador Ford took a suitcase with him that included some diplomatic papers. He was escorted by two special agents from the Diplomatic Security Service, who took him to the Prime Minister's office. The Ambassador would produce his diplomatic papers to the first person he saw and note that the ambassador had requested his presence.

The Ambassador would be escorted to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, after the diplomatic protection unit had seen his papers and greet him. The door would be flung open for him. He would see the Minister with his glasses nose down on many papers, with a suttle raise of the eyes to meet his.
"Ah!" He would gently take his glasses off. "We finally meet! It's a pleasure mister ambassador to receive you. I reckon you are worried about the sudden sprung of the summoning. But rest assured we only wish to talk." He would pause and gesture to the chair before him.

"So, I am glad that the situation between you and Spain have died down and both nations choose the path of peaceful reconciliation. However we are worried about a new possible incursion, but outside forces. Unfortunately, this little scuffle brought eyes down to the Atlantic Region. Eyes belonging to Thailand, now we are not 100% opposed for nations to do as they need in their respective regions or outside of them. However this peace-force as they call it. Does not consist of 2 or 3 ships... but 22 Ships, looks less like a peace-force and more like a war deployment. Now we would like to know what Amarica is planning to about this?" He would pause. "This deployment seems like a provocation, and we are not to keen on having such a big force, around our EEZ, we have trade operations, natural reefs, economic operations around this area which we wish to not be interrupted or damaged by this sudden movement. We are willing to work with the US to find a peaceful solution for Thailand deployment. I believe that with your unmatched diplomatic weight, they may back down from this deployment."

"Foreign Minister, it's an honor to meet you," the Ambassador said.

"The incursion from Thailand is being taken extremely serious by the Federal Government. I can confirm to you that the United States Navy is currently preparing two major deployments into our mutually shared North Atlantic Ocean. We are utilizing all of the resources available to the United States to ensure the safety of the American People, our allies, and all of our friends in Europe, Portugal included. Right now, as things stand, I can tell you that if the Thai fleet goes past 5 degrees North - the line of latitude - the United States Navy will interpret their fleet as a threat to the American homeland, and act accordingly. We will not, under any circumstances, allow an Asian country to pose any threat to any country in Europe, Spain and Portugal included," he said.

"I can also tell you that, at this time, the Spanish government has taken significant steps to repair our diplomatic relations before this Thai deployment. What we are focusing on now is an offensive Thai deployment into the North Atlantic Ocean," he said.

"In that case, we would like to extend our aid to the united states, we are ready to allow you temporarly basing rights in the Azores Naval Base, along sise the Lajes Airfield, while we deal with this thai threat. You can use both bases to deploy supporting assets to the fleet, like tankers and supply ships.

We are also willing to participate in your deployment with our own navy; we would just need you to inform us of how many vessels you would need to complement your deployment.

I also believe that informing Spain and having them support this deployment would also be a good way to reconcile your relationship."

"Your presence would be more than welcome," the Ambassador said. "We currently have two carrier strike groups, as well as many other destroyers and submarines travelling to the equator. If you are capable of deploying more destroyers and other armed surface vessels, it would be greatly appreciated. Just please let us know what you will be sending, and where it will be arriving," he said. In the spirit of mutual cooperation, the Portuguese were informed of approximately where the American fleets were arriving. While this kind of information was normally kept secret, this operation was not (and also it is kind of hard to hide two carrier strike groups).

"Your officer for us to temporarily use the Azores Naval Base and Lajes Airfield is greatly appreciated. While we should have enough fuel and our aircraft should be able to operate on the carriers, we would be very happy to have these in reserve. I will inform the State Department immediately so that this information can be passed on to the Navy," he said. He would excuse himself, make a few phone calls, and then come back.

"It seems they have backed down from their incursion, this come to a reminder that Portugal and the US shared a very strong bond in the past, however since recent changes in our government we have kept more to us than to the world. Our government as been in operation since 1995, however our type of Democracy changed to that of a Constitutional Monarchy. However rest assured that all deals and pacts we made with the US before this change, will still be kept, especially our mutual defence agreement."

"And after we experienced this incursion from Thailand, we must ask that you consider our possible procurement for a aircraft carrier alongside its aircraft complement.

1 x Kitty Hawk-class Aircraft Carrier
36 x McDonnell Douglas F/A-18C/D Hornet
4 x Northrop Grumman EA-6B Prowler
4 x Northrop Grumman E-2C Hawkeye
6 x S-3B Viking

This would very much help us, defend better the Atlantic region."

"Foreign Minister, I think you may be mistaken. Our governments have not established a mutual defense pact between our countries. Unfortunately, the United States does not export aircraft carriers. This is something that even the President could not authorize, as it would require an Act of Congress to change federal law," the Ambassador said.

"We would be happy to work with you in other areas of military procurement, but an aircraft carrier is not an area that we can assist your government in at this time."
