2013 International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships

The first day of the championship would get underway. As crowds gathered to witness the first matches between Spain and France in Quebec City and between Sweden and Canada in Halifax. The crowd at Halifax would be slightly larger given the presence of Canada and support from local Canadians, however many supporters would've come from countries across the world to support their teams. The results would be as followed:

Canada = 3

This would be a disappointing first game for the Canadian fans in the stadium but they wouldn't lose hope, knowing that Sweden was very strong competition. In Quebec City, the result would be as followed:

The result would also be another upset, considering Spain was going into this competition as underdogs, historically not that strong at Ice Hockey. Tensions would also be high given the general sporting rivalry between Spain and France, the police presence at Pepsi Colee Stadium would remain high and police would arrest 6 people on offences relating to bad behaviour, mainly getting into fights due to the bitter rivalry. Day 2 brings Serbia and an up and coming team from Vetnam head to head in Quebec City and Sweden plays again against the Netherlands in another bitter European rivalry.

Day 2 would get underway with crowds gathering in Quebec City and Halifax again, this time with Serbian and Vietnamese fans gathering in Quebec and Swedish fans coming back to Halifax to cheer them on against The Netherlands. The matches would get underway and the results would be as followed:

In possibly the biggest upset of the competition, Vietnam, the underdogs of the competition have managed to smash Serbia in both countries first games of the competition. Serbian fans would leave defeated but not giving up on their next game, hopefully they can bring it back. In Halifax, Sweden would take on The Netherlands and the results would be as followed:

The Netherlands = 3

Sweden would continue its winning streaking and is currently the dominating force in this competition, with Rickard Rakell and Jacob de la Rose pulling off plenty of goals for Sweden. Jan van Antwerp would also score twice in a row, making The Netherlands are formidable force and strong competition. Day 3 continues tomorrow with Vietnam coming back to play Spain in Quebec City and Canada taking on brand new competitors and another Asian underdog, Thailand, in Halifax.

Day 3 would get underway with Spain and Vietnam taking on each other in Quebec City, as usual the security was on high alert as fans packed the stadium, the results would be as followed:

In another bizarre upset, Vietnam have managed to smash it home again, defeating Spain in an upset. Vietnam are proving themselves as the underdogs along with Thailand in the competition, never to have competited in a World Championship before.

In a nail biter, the match went into overtime as both teams were level on 3 all. The captain of the Canadian team, Connor McDavid has managed to win the game for Canada in overtime, making it Canadas first win of the competition after their humiliating defeat to Sweden. Both Connor McDavid and Tyson Jost are proving to be the heros of the Canadian team, scoring all of the goals for Canada beside Mathew Barzal's goal in this game. Day 4 brings Thailand back against the Netherlands in Halifax and Serbia takes on France in Quebec City.

Day 4 would get underway and the results would be as followed in Halifax:

Thailand has managed to pull off another upset from another Asian team playing in the competition, this time just edging out infront of The Netherlands. This makes it The Netherlands second loss and now their chances of progressing are being hinged on their match with Canada. The results in Quebec City would be as followed:

France = 4 (OT)

This time another nail biter, with France winning the match in overtime. Serbia's new god of Ice Hockey appears to be Marko Brkusanin who managed to score all 3 goals for Serbia in that match. This makes it Serbia's second loss and their finals hopes now hinge on their match against Spain in the last day.

In Day 5, Vietnam and France would take on each other in Quebec City. Vietnam and Quebec both being former French colonies this match would be dominated by La Francophone. The results would be as followed:

France = 2

Vietnam absolutely slaughters Group A! Winning all three matches it played in! Though this time it was a nailbiter in overtime. They are almost certainly going to the Semifinals, but the other team to go will hinge on the final match tomorrow. Vietnam are truly the Jamaican bobsleigh team of the competition. In Halifax, Canada would take on the Netherlands will a huge crowd of locals out in support for Canada.

Another nail biter! The Netherlands just edges out Canada in overtime after being level at 5 all at the end of the match. This makes it Team Canadas second defeat and so many Canadian fans are wondering just what went wrong and hoping that the final match will mean that Canada still progresses to the semifinals. The final day of Group matches continues tomorrow in Day 6.

In Quebec City, Serbia and Spain would take on each other on the final day of Group tournaments. The results would be as followed:

Though a close game in overtime it's another loss for Serbia, this makes it Serbia's third loss in a row and means they have lost all games, their chances of going through to the semis are all but extinguished. Thailand manages to pull an upset against competition favourites Sweden. Though it hinders Swedens chances slightly, their excellent performance in their past two games are almost certain to see them progress to the Semifinals which are tomorrow in Quebec City. 2 Semifinals will be played and the teams going through will be calculated shortly.

Day 7 would get underway with the two Semifinals being played at Colisee Pepsi, Quebec City. Sweden and Thailand would've both arrived on chartered Air Canada Jetz aircraft last night from Halifax to Quebec City. The first semifinal would get underway at about midday with Vietnam taking on Sweden. The results would be as followed:

Vietnam = 2
Sweden = 3

In a massive upset, Sweden have managed to defeat competition leaders, Vietnam by one goal, thanks to the work of Mattias Janmark-Nylen. This means that Sweden will progress to the final and Vietnam will compete for third place. The next game would be played at about 4pm between Thailand and Spain, the results would be as followed:

In a massive win by Thailand, they have managed to smash Spain in this Semifinal, meaning Thailand will progress to the finals against Sweden, which means the two teams will face each other once more after Thailands win against Sweden yesterday. Spain will take on Vietnam tomorrow to determine third place.

Today was the day, the day of the finals. Both the Third Place and Finals match would be played at Colisee Pepsi, Quebec City. The first match of the day would be the Third Place match at about 12pm between Vietnam and Spain, crowds would gather in their thousands, hopeful that their team can snatch up the bronze. The results would be as followed:

Spain have managed to score the win finishing Third Place overall in the competition and Group leaders Vietnam finish Fourth overall. The Spanish fans would be partying long into the night in Quebec City. The final would soon get underway at the same arena have the ice had been cleared. The fans from all over the world would pack into the stadium, the Surete du Quebec would boost the security presence for this match. The coin would be tossed and the match would get underway, the results would be as followed:

SWEDEN WIN THE COMPETITION! Absolutely smashing Thailand in this final. Thailand went into this competition as underdogs from an Asian country and have managed to face off against one of the Kings of Ice Hockey, Sweden, finishing a dignified second place overall. What a spectacular final and a spectacular win for Sweden. The Swedish fans would go absolutely mental and would no doubt be getting smashed tonight in Quebec City.
