[Australia]: Australian Antarctic Expedition 1996-97

The RSV Aurora Australis would arrive back in Fremantle with all 116 scientists onboard and all the equipment that was taken to Antarctica. The Channel 7 News helicopter would be circling above as it made its way into Fremantle. Families would be waiting down on the docks to welcome back their loved ones. A great sense of achievement was in the air.

"FUCK SWEDEN!" One would say as he exited the ship.

"NOT SHOPPING AT IKEA ANYMORE!" Another would say.

Anti-Swedish resentment was running high in Australia and a warning was put out to the Swedish Embassy about potential protests or attacks on the Embassy. Australian Protective Service officers would be bolstering their presence at the Swedish Embassy and Consulates around the country.

HMAS Arunta would return to HMAS Stirling and its mission would be declared successful.

Once the scientists would be returned with their families they would head out from Perth back to their respective hometowns. They would be given 6 weeks paid leave from the Australian Antarctic Division. The RSV Aurora Australis with its equipment onboard would return to its homeport of Hobart, Tasmania docking at Princes Wharf No. 1 in the Port of Hobart.
