Dear President Wahid, I am writing to you as a close friend and neighbour. Australia-Indonesia relations have been non-existent in recent years and we wish to change that. Our relationship with Indonesia is one of our most important and is of the utmost priority to my government due to your proximity and importance to the region. I would like it if I could visit Jakarta to meet with yourself and other members of your government to discuss a range of trade, defence and economic opportunities. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, Kim Beazley. |
