[ASSEMBLY MEMBER]: REPRESENTATIVES NAME [DATE]: 05/1996
[VOTE]: DECLINE [REASON]: Norway supports this resolution in spirit, but finds that it is too vague to have any meaningful impact and could, in its current state, be misused to bring inappropriate litigation against countries.
[ASSEMBLY MEMBER]: KHALID IBN MALIK [DATE]: 05/1996
[VOTE]: ABSTAIN [REASON]: The Kingdom has a neutral stance. Each nation is different and have their own culture. For example, there is no need for us to adopt such a policy because Shariah protects the worthy.
Swiss representative to Global Assembly were late and apologized to every other members. She would read the transcript of the proceedings and would go for vote.
THE GLOBAL ASSEMBLY
OFFICIAL POLLING CARD THE ASSEMBLY
[ASSEMBLY MEMBER]: Elsbeth Norman [DATE]: 05/1996
[VOTE]: ABSTAIN [REASON]: The People's Confederation of Switzerland takes neutral side. Swiss believes that parents must protect their children. If parents fails to protect, then government will take the children away. Again, Swiss thinks it is not on Global Assembly's hand to decide such resolutions.
Voting on the Resolution for the Rights for the Child has now ended. With the result being four (4) votes in favour, four (4) votes against and three (3) votes abstaining. Therefore the Resolution for the Rights of the Child has been rejected.
I wish to thank all Representatives present for their participation in the debate and vote.
