The Pontifical American Guard is responsible for the Close Protection of the Pope as well as the maintenance/operation of the Pontifical Helicopters. The Pontifical American Guard consists of 350 guardsmen, some being pilots, some being maintenance personnel, and the vast majority being close protection specialists. They are all drawn as honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces, with the majority being ex-Marines.
Hierarchy of the Pontifical American Guard:
Commandant of the Guard: Colonel William "Doc" Woods (Commander, USN, FMF, Ret.)
Vice-Commandant of the Guard: Lt. Colonel John Dougherty (Lt. Colonel, USAF, Ret.)
NCOIC: Sergeant Major Thomas Kincaid (Sergeant Major, USMC, Ret.)
Chaplain: (Holds the rank of Lt. Colonel) Father Lucas White LC
Headquarters: Castel Sant'Angelo

Dress Sword: Marine NCO, Marine Officer’s Marmeluke Sword, USN Dress Saber, Model 1852 Navy Officers' Sword, Model 1860 Navy CPO Cutlass, Model 1860 Navy CPO Cutlass, Model 1902 Army Officers' Sword, US Air Force Dress Sword, US Air Force NCO Sword (Depending on previous service, unlike their American counterparts, these weapons are not just decorative but fully functional weapons.)

Standard Issue Anti-Personnel Rifle: M107 (Chambered in .50 BMG 12.7×99mm NATO)

3x Sikorsky VH-60N White Hawk Helicopters (Designated Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. Though if the Pope is onboard it is Pontifical One)
