It took time to make the proper arrangements. Secure vehicles needed to be transported and the emperor's sizable entourage needed to secure visas. Once all arrangements were made a government owned Il-96 transported the emperor to Belgrade. The royal retinue was greeted by great enthusiasm in Belgrade by Russian media hoping to catch a glimpse of this second international trip by the new emperor.

Mikhail departed the plane and eagerly approached the Serbian delegation.
