The Republic of Korea wishes to welcome the efforts of your government and H.E. President Habibie's maneuvers to develop a stable democratic Indonesia. The Republic of Korea stands firm behind your government in your mission to develop and progress democratic values and institutions in your country. We hope that together as partners we can achieve a stable and healthy bilateral relationship based on the values of peace, democracy, and development. H.E. the Prime Minister offers his best of wishes to the President and your government. The Prime Minister is eager to speak with President Habibi to lay out a Korea-Indonesia partnership, discuss a financial grant to assist Indonesia with its domestic democratic reforms, and offer to send Korean technical advisors to your government. This transitory period in Indonesia is very exciting for our government as we see a strong opportunity to make real change in the region.
I look forward to your response, and to arrange the phone call between President Habibie and Prime Minister Jo. A prosperous future is ahead of our two countries and the Republic of Korea hopes to become both a partner in trade, security, and development for Indonesia.
Signed with sincerity,
Park Minyoung
Secretary for the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea
