King Stanislaus would be seated at his desk within the royal office located in the Royal Castle in Warsaw, Poland. Having just finished yet another Council of Ministers meeting, that were coming all too common these days, he had set aside some time to read through some proposed amendments and proposals sent by the Sejm and Senat for his approval. The rustic appearance of the Royal Apartments did well to quell whatever resentment he felt towards his fellow politicians at their attempt to gain his favor in return to passing laws and amendments he felt were needed for the Polish people to advance their society. He had half an inkling to abolish the Sejm and Senat and start fresh with a new election to fill the seats. But that would be overstepping his promise of allowing democracy to remain an important part of the Polish lifestyle.

All of these thoughts were put on hold when a young brunette walked in carrying a confidential folder in her arms. Miss Kowalski had been hired as his secretary following the death of her husband in the line of duty during the terrorist attacks that lead to the own attempt on his wife. "Miss Kowalski, what brings you in at such an early hour?" Stanislaus had mandated to her that she need not be at the job until her two children had gone off to school.

"My sister is hosting the children for the next couple of weeks for their birthdays. It will give them some free time away from me and some time for me to be an adult." Stanislaus often told his young secretary that she should take time for herself away form the kids. It did them little good if she damaged her own mental health in exchange of protecting theirs. It seems like she had finally taken him up on that advice. "But sir, this is not a social call," she would hand him the folder and allow him to read it for himself. The Polish king would read each word with extreme focus as he felt his own eyes soften at what he was reading. His worries of a corrupt Sejm and Senat melted away as he read about an entire nation in morning at the death of the entire royal family. Five lives snuffed out in an instant. He continued to read the report, hand absentmindedly stroking the well groomed beard he now sported along his lower jaw. "Thank you Miss Kowalski. I'd like to make a phone call to the Prime Minister of Portugal and offer my condolences and the condolences of the Polish people." Miss Kowalski would bow her head and turn away as she began walking back out of the room.

As soon as the doors to the Royal Apartments were closed by the secretary, Stanislaus would grab the secured and encrypted landline and open a document on his computer that listed the numbers of important people per country. When he found the office for the Prime Minister of Portugal, he would begin dialing the phone.

"This is Stanislaus Grabowski of the Kingdom of Poland for Prime Minister Sir Antonio Gueterres." He would speak in English with a heavy Polish accent to whomever answered the phone on the Portuguese side.

The Prime Minister, extremely busy for what was going on in the country, would answer the phone.

"Hello Mr Grabowski, it is a pleasure to talk with you, I must apologize, truly apologize, but I have limited time to be on this phone call, due to what's going on currently in the nation. How can I assist you?"

King Grabowski would hear the tone of the man on the other end and understand completely that the stress he must have been enduring was surely trying his patience. He did not hold it against the man for being short with him, or used the wrong honorific in addressing him.

"Prime Minister, I'm sorry to interrupt your day and I understand you must be terribly busy dealing with such a tragedy so I will keep it short. I am calling to offer my condolences to you and the Kingdom of Portugal for the loss of the Royal Family. As one head of state to another, I can begin to express how sorry I am to hear of the passing of another royal family. I won't take up anymore of your time sir, I just felt it better to hear it at least over the phone, if not in person, rather than an email or letter."

Stanislaus would wait for the man to respond before he made his farewells and disconnected the line.

"Your majesty, please do not take offense from my previous words, this is a very stressful time in the nation, especialy from what the constitution forces us to do in this eventuality. In the next few days, we will be re-establishing the Portuguese Republic, as mandated by our Constitution. A new constitution is currently being writen with the ideals of Montesquieu and the Magna Carta. So with the death of the King so do dies our Monarchy." He would pause. " It was short lived, that is true, around 6 years we have been a monarchy, but now a new path will follow. I wholeheartdly thank you for your words your majesty. It ironic isn't it? Portugal was one of the first Monarchies to be reestabilished in Europe, in 1998, and now when so many others have been reestablished, Portugal now paves a new path. Thank you so much your majesty, it is heartwarming to hear support from outside our borders."

With that we would wait for Grabowski to speak. ManBear

"Please do not worry about it. No offense was taken on my end. I understand it is a very stressful time for you and your nation. If there is anything the Kingdom of Poland can do to assist Portugal and her people during this transition, do not hesitate to ask us. Changing the words of a great American president, Ask not what you can for for me but what I can do for you." Stanislaus would allow the Prime Minister to fully understand the words before continuing. "It is certainly heartbreaking to hear of the destruction of the Monarchy at such a pivotal time in the world, especially at such a young age. It was Portugal's reformation of the Monarchy that gave us the idea not so long ago, ourselves. But I shall let you get back to it, Mr. Prime Minister. Just know that Poland stands with Portugal in this trying time."

He would pause to understand the words said by Polish Monarch, this words had great effect.

"Those words come at the right time and in the right moment your majesty. My.. my King, in all the meetings that were discuss the crisis or turmoil of our nation, King Duarte II always said that the State and its People come first, we are their voice, their servants, their Shepard and beacon in crisis, and their humble servant in prosperity and peace. The Nation calls for those willing to listen.

We have a guiding light, our constitution, in darkness it serves as our lantern, guiding us into the light, away from darkness. The Republic comes, mindful of what we leave behind, in honor of what came before it and our history.

I thank you wholeheartedly for your support your majesty, truly thankful. And I hope to meet you in better times in the near future."

He would wait for the Polish Monarch to answer, and after that he would thank him again for the support and cease the call, and return to is duties.

"There is no need to worry, Prime Minister. The Portuguese are a tough and hardy people and they will weather this storm in perfect fashion. His Majesty knew this to be true and that is why he put those stipulations in writing. I am sure of this despite not having the pleasure to meet the man in person. Even in death, your king is guiding your people to where they should go and that is something to be proud of. Leading his people from heaven. Once things have settled and you have a moment to breath, Poland would be grateful for the chance to open official diplomatic relations with Portugal but you must be allowed to grieve. If you need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to me personally. You have a good day, sir, and again my condolences to you and your nation for the great loss."

Stanislaus would wait for a response before disconnecting the call and allowing the man to return to his tough work of leading a nation through a period of mourning.
