PROJECT INFORMATION | In an effort to revitalize the aging Polish Roads, many of which date back to World War II and earlier, the Polish Government has since assigned 1 billion dollars to modernize, repair, and upgrade existing roads on the national and voivodeship level, for a total of 993 roads being inspecting, repaired, upgraded, and modernized. 1. Will involve the inspection of all 47,337 kilometers of National and Voivodeship roadway networks. Throughout the inspections, workers will be marking potholes and bridges that are in need of repair, roadway shoulders that need repaired or extended, and signs that need to be replaced. The inspection process will start on the key areas of import/export as well as heavy traffic areas around metropolitan areas, such as Warsaw before moving to the more rural areas. 2. Will involve the repairing of major potholes and bridges that are in dire need of repair. This part will also go about replacing guardrails, signs, and providing temporary dirt extensions for roadway shoulders. Like the inspection process, this part will start in the major import/export areas as well as heavy traffic areas around metropolitan areas, such as Warsaw, before moving out to the more rural areas. 3. Will involve expanded roadway shoulders with a more permanent paved area, allowing vehicles to be moved off of the roadway during an accident or the event of a breakdown. Will also involve repairing of small, less major, potholes and repairing of bridges that are not in dire need. 4. Will involve the modernizing of roadway signs, utilizing electronic ones to indicate roadway conditions and road hazards, modernizing of roadway markers and distance markers to insure the utmost accuracy. Damaged or outdated signs will also be replaced with more modernized ones to increase survivability. The Roadway Revitalization Program will result in a safer roadway system that will not be as complicated to travel or as damaging to vehicles traveling on them. |
