PROJECT INFORMATION | A newly created research facility, with the added function of a shared naval base, shall be constructed on the southwestern side of the island of Flores. The research center shall be epicenter and headquarters for future projects regarding the exploration of the sea. Due to being a joint-effort by Brazil and Portugal, half of the funds would come from Brazil. Brazil would be responsible for the Research and Development of large equipment, such as vehicles, and underwater structures, while Portugal is responsible for the components, electronics, tools, and equipment. The establishment would be given a budget of 750,000,000 USD. The facility would be roughly 54 hectares in size. It would house a large wharf to allow docking of standard naval equipment, a vehicle development bay, for testing vehicles and modules, a separate training facility to train Aquanauts in their equipment and what to expect, a large research center that is capable of developing new equipment and analyzing gathered data, 4 helicopter pads, housing facilities, and a building designed to house administration. The perimeter would be secured by 6m high fences and regular patrols. The surrounding 2 square nautical miles would be restricted to authorized vessels only. Civilians wouldn't be allowed inside the facility unless approved by the facility's staff. The Facility would be named "Henrique Sea Station" after Prince Henry the Navigator. |
