PROJECT INFORMATION | The Veículo Blindado de Combate de Infantaria or VBCI V-400 is an Infantry Fighting Vehicle developed for Portugal. The VBCI would be based on the Bravia Chaimite Chasis, with added modifications. The Armour would be capable of protecting its occupants of upto 14.5mm AP projecetiles. The V-400 IFV would be armed with the CR-30 Autocannon, with an unmanned turret near the frontend of the vehicle. The Turret would be sporting a remote weapons system, automatic targeting systems, and infraed, allowing the gunner to fire the turret remotely, and during the dark. The gun also utilizes autoloaders. The V-400 also features a coaxial 12.7mm machinegun. There would be 3 crew members, the driver, the commander, and the gunner. The current planned V-400 variant would be capable of carrying upto 8 extra passengers. Plans for a ATGM-launcher were considered, but later dropped in late-development. Overall, the V-400 is an attempt on decreasing international dependence on Portugal's defensive equipment.
