PROJECT INFORMATION | The present project is planned, executed and paid by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on behalf of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The project shall take place in the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Source: https://modernnations.com/threads/vt-international-contracts.18750/ --- As per the agreement by which the KOICA and Vietnamese Government agreed too, the KOICA shall be in charge of the development and overhaul of the bus systems in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The KOICA Proposal includes the construction of the slight structure overpass, elevated highway, ring roads, promoting bus system; speedy investment in the construction of public transport services. The project would cover in total 1,100 miles of road. The first phase includes an overhaul and expansion of existing roads and infrastructure to produce the basis for developing the bus system. Based on this, service stations, bus stops, bus lanes, and special bus lanes will be added and ensure a highly advanced and highly efficient road system. These additions will be aimed at improving quality of service offered to residence. At 400 miles of renovation in Hanoi, the total cost will be $1,840,000,000 with $4,600,000.00 per mile. At 700 miles of renovation in Ho Chi Min City the total cost would be $3,220,000,000.00 at a price of $4,600,000.00 cost per mile of road, the average cost per mile would be $2.2 million. The project will cover the development and expansion of exisitng infrastrucrure, and build new ones where lacking. The project will have Korean and Vietnamese supervision, while the labor will also be mixed of Korean and Vietnamese construction workers. The resources and materials shall be exported by Korea where unable to be sourced domestically, unless the Vietnamese contractors find an alternative source for resources and materials. The Korean Government shall cover educational costs to provide affordable educational opportunities for Vietnamese students to study development and construction related courses. Hyundai shall over bus training to drivers to allow them to operate the Hyundai Bus fleet. The evaluation of the current infrastructure has been completed by KOICA and the evaluators have outlined areas of immediate concern, areas of secondary concern, and final areas of suggested development. The areas of immediate concern shall be addressed first, while, areas of secondary concern shall be addressed after, and the other concerns shall be addressed last. The damaged roads and existing infrastructure will be fixed. The existing roads will be expanded to include designated bus lanes. The overhead highways and overpasses will be constructed to ease congestion on the roads. The sidewalks will be fixed and adjusted to provide public transportation services. The Seoul Metropolitan Government shall provide technical support to develop online services to ensure high quality services for the bus system. This support shall include card system, profitability methods, and efficiency concerns. |
