An outstanding achievement for this Latin American nation, keep up the good work. I think I might indulge in some tacos tonight. This is followed by Israel and then the United States. Another great achievement for such a small nation like Israel. @MichaelKnight

President of the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Nothing stopping Team USA at this point. 17 gold medals, 7 ahead of both Israel and Sweden. At this point in time there's the United States well ahead of the pack, the top-tier consisting of Israel, Sweden, China, Angola, Mexico, The Netherlands and Australia. The mid-tier pack of Russia, Great Britain, Poland and Hong Kong and the bottom-tier of Thailand, Canada, OAP and Macau. However things are about to shift, as this part of the games we start to wrap up Swimming and get into Athletics. Many new events will come online and many have ended today or will end tomorrow. These next few days will be decisive in who claims the top of the medal tally.
