Greetings,

I just got off the phone recently with Ambassador Le Van Bang and am very pleased with the progress that has been made. I believe that arranging for these high level talks to occur on Jeju Island is most acceptable. Should Korea agree to host these talks it would be a great neutral ground for them. When will you be contacting the Koreans on this matter?

I believe as we will be discussing a lease on the Hamilton-Class and not a purchase one thing that should naturally be discussed is the situation in the South China sea. America's stance on it, and terms and conditions involving it in regards to the lease on those vessels.

Other then that all of these topics are acceptable and I look forward to hearing of these discussions between our Vice Presidents. I will ensure that the Vice President is fully ready for these discussion points as I am CCing him in this email.

What do you believe the timeframe for preparing this meeting should be? Prior to the meeting taking place I believe we should each send inspectors to the location.

Foreign Minister,

Thank you for your swift and informative response. I will contact the Koreans immediately and will be sure to copy your office in the message so that they know this request is coming from both of us. Also, it will be no problem to include a deeper discussion on the cutters, and the possibility of heaving the lease turn into a purchase if certain conditions that both sides agree to can be met. Also, I find no issue with adding the discussion of the situation in the South China Sea to the agenda - I am sure that there is plenty on that topic that the United States and Vietnam will agree on. I have spoken with President Gore and Vice President Sinclair who have both agreed to this meeting and its importance. If you find it acceptable, I would be happy for also you and myself to attend this meeting so that we may assist our vice presidents. Also, I have no issue with sending inspectors to the location, and I am sure the Koreans will understand that these precautions will need to happen.

I will contact the Koreans immediately and I will be sure to copy your office in the message. I am very excited for these talks to move forward, as is the White House.
