From Gerald Monahan, Foreign Minister of Èire
To The Foreign Minister of Brazil

It is with great sorrow, that I have to inform you of my government's decision to announce the closure of the Irish embassy in Brasilia in light of those acts of aggression committed against the people of French Guiana on the part of the armed forces of Brazil.

As Èire's foreign minister, I must also inform you that all Brazillian diplomatic personnel including those stationed at the embassy in Dublin will have 168 hours (1 week) to depart from Irish soil.

Diplomatic personnel shall be escorted to the nearest airport courtesy of the Garda Síochána. After 168 hours, any remaining diplomatic personnel in Èire will be classified as persona na grati and shall be subjected to the law's of Èire as such.

With regards to the status of Brazillian nationals, the Irish Government will do all it can to protect their rights and liberties as guests of the Irish state. Any subversive activity will not be tolerated and will result in deportation. Those wishing to remain in Èire shall be permitted to retain their Brazillian citizenship in addition to having the option of taking on Irish citizenship.

The Foreign Ministry shall lower its tricolour at half staff as a gesture of respect for our guests.

Sincerely,
Gerald Monahan

To: Gerald Monahan, Foreign Minister of Ireland
From: Oscar DeSilva, Foreign minister of Brazil

It comes with great sadness and equal shock the announcement of this decision, especially given how great the beginning of our friendship was.

I am not sure how much it will do, and I am not attempting to get you to reverse your decision, but I will explain the invasion of French Guiana, from our point of view.

After nearly two months of being held hostage, a third party country negotiated a release of my diplomatic hostages, with the proviso being that I make a public apology to the French people. They not only promised they would release the hostages but drop the litigation against my country at the International Court of Justice.

After I apologized, they did, neither. There are always two sides to every story, but that is ours.

Sincerely,

Oscar DeSilva
Foreign Minister of Brazil

The Brazilian Embassy sends out an emergency text to all Brazilian citizens registered with the embassy.

The Government of Ireland has ordered all citizens and diplomats representing Brazil to leave Ireland within a week's time. We suggest you do so immediately. As there no direct flights from Dublin to Rio we suggest you book the next flight to London and from London fly on to Rio.

=============================================================================

The Brazilian diplomatic staff would then incinerate all paper documents, smash all computer hard drives and incinerate them as well. The rest of the embassy would left as orderly as possible.

The next day after issuing the alert, the staff would pile into two Mitsubishi Outlanders and drive to Dublin airport and purchase tickets for the next flight, regardless of airline, to London. They are lucky enough to get a late night flight to London via British airways.

In London they find out they must wait 19 hours for the next flight to Rio. The purchase tickets and and try to make
themselves as comfortable as they can.

They wait throughout the night, the next morning and late into the next afternoon. Finally, it is announced that it is time for the flight to board. Exhausted but happy to be going home, they board the flight and head home to Rio.
