SAMBA DO MACAU: ANTARCTICA 1-2 HEATS UP THE FIGHT. MERCEDES CLOSE BY.

A sad week for the IRC F1 family came to conclusion today at the Macau GP. All drivers and team principals gathered minutes before the race start at starting lane for a minute of silence in tribute to Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn who succumbed to its injuries sustained during last weeks GP. Garuda F1 decided to not pullout of the competition, but did not replace the Crown Prince's seat with another driver. Team mate Chalor will finish the Season in honor of his former colleague.

As for the race itself, the candidates seem to have been narrowed down to just two teams, and with Antarctica Motor Racing's stellar performance, cliching P1 and P2, the Constructions championship could swing either to them or to Mercedes, who despite a bad day managed to finish with both of his cars in the points, mantaining its lead in the Championship. The podium was completed with the only Garuda pilot left, who received his trophy and immediatly looked to the sky and pointed upwards, dedicating this podium to his friend and team colleague.

Barichello demonstrated a super driving style to secure his 2nd GP in a row and catapulting him to the top of the Driver's Championship, just above the Mercedes pilots who are still fighting hard to bring both titles to Germany. Roth on P5 and Luxemburg on P7 saved the lead of their team thanks to the points they gathered but now they are facing serious competition with only 3 races remaining, including Antarctica's home race and the South American GP.

Pampa Energia had a good day thanks to Siebert's P4 and Tueros P6, climbing positions on the lower part of the table, while Golden Dragon closed off the points thanks to Xue Wen.

We also saw another dissapointing race from Nexus F1, who is unrecognizable from the first few races of the Season, where it pulled great results. For second consecutive race they were not able to grab any points and once again fell in the Constructors ranking, falling way behind the brazilians and germans.

Finally Team Norway Racing and Team Gunston also failed to confirm the improvements they evidenced during the last seasons and seem to be competing now for the lower positions of the table, but with 3 races remaining they might still be on time to compete for the "best of the rest" title.

With the asian tour complete, the IRC heads now to South America for the final stage of the season.

This was a special race...It had been 7 years, Exactly 7 years, since the last time 2 Brazilian drivers got onto the podium together, Glavão, like always, was there to narrate it all.

"
E ai vem o Barrichello! Felipe logo atrás! A Antarctica prepara a festa, o Brasil completa a penultima volta e recebe a bandeira branca! é a ultima volta!

Sete anos! Finalmente!

E AI VEM BARRICHELLO! É O FINAL DA PROVA! RUBENS! RUBENS! RUBENS BARRICHELLO DO BRASIIIIL!!! FELIPE NASCIMENTO LOGO ATRAS! A DOBRADIHA FINALMENTE CHEGOUU!!
"

RACE

The Brazilians had shown great pace during the Practice and Qualifications, unfortunately however, the two Brazilians were once again, stuck behind the two Mercedes during the final moments of the Qualifying.

With the race arriving, the two Antarctica cars would get a great start, challenging the two Mercedes and moving up to the Top 5 by the end of the first laps, soon, as the series of pit stops came, the Brazilian Duo saw themselves in the front of the pack, Barrichello went for a more aggressive strategy, choosing hard tires unlike his teammate who went for the Mediums, which allowed him to stay out for longer and gain a significant distance from the rest of the pack, the rest of the race was rather quiet...but finally, the duo crossed the line to bring a 1 - 2 for Antarctica.

"
Congratulations Barichello! P1 P1!"

"
Woohoo! That's how it's done! Thank you guys, two in a row!"

"
Alright Felipe, P2! P2! Good job mate."

"
**** Yeah boys! Haha! What a result! We're still in it! VAMOS!!"

Barrichello would celebrate alongside his teammate, the two walking to Chalor and Congratulating him for the 3rd place, before rushing to the team and celebrating the 1 2 with them.

On the Podium, the two Brazilians would show solidarity with the Garuda F1 Racer, before showering him and each other with Champagne.

The race was an immense success to the team, the team would use the weekend's statistics and data collected for the final 3 rounds, with the team still in the race for the Championship, It was important and crucial for the team to maintain the great pace they've been showing.

The Team looked to make great results in the next rounds...especially in their 2 Home Races.

BARICHELLO SECURES BACK TO BACK WINS IN A DASH TOWARDS THE TILE. MERCEDES DOESNT GIVE UP

With the F1 Season reaching South America, the last stage of the year, fans and specialists agree on the significant advantage that Antarctica now has, racing in their home circuits and in front of its people. This was confirmed with todays uncontested win by Rubens Barichello, who drove its A97 to his 3rd title this season, as well as to his first back to back winner's trophies. The 10 points allow him not only to segure his leadership in the Drivers Championship, but also to further the distance to current runner up and teammate Da Costa Nascimento, who now shares that position with Mercedes Benz Morgen Luxemburg, who finished on P2 today, just ahead of Antarctica's second drive.

Nexus F1 showed signs of improvment, getting back to the points with a solid drive from Brown to finish on P4, with a good advantage over Team Norway's Huysman on P5 (and with the fastest lap). On P7, Tuero failed to give the argentine fans something to cheer, even ebing the only Pampa Energia to finish the race, thanks to Siebert's DNF. The last few points went to Team Gunston's Tunmer, who despite having left the last position of the Driver's Championship, failed to give his team the same boost and the South African team still occupies the last spot on the Constructors Championship.

With two races left, to be held in Brazil, everything is prepared for Antarctica to bring home both the Driver's and Constructor's Titles, but Mercedes Benz is still within realistic reach of the first positions on both rankings. A good performance can bring them back to the top. Meanwhile, Garuda, Pampa and Nexus are fighting with everythign they have for the "titke" of the "best of the rest".

See you again next sunday, for the South American GP.

RACE

although not their home country, the Brazilians could see a lot of yellow and green dots along the grandstands, although that was visible around other circuits, it was especially apparent here.

The team prepared the car for the Practice and Qualifying sessions, the car showing great pace during both sections..this would translate into a well deserved Pole Position for Rubens and a Satisfactory P3 for Francisco.

The Light rain on the track allowed Rubens to show his driving expertise on the wet track and gain a significant distance from the rest of the grid.

Meanwhile, Francisco battled for much of the race against fellow newcomer Morgen Luxembourg, the two switched positions multiple times...however, by the time the rounds of Pit stops came, Francisco's Pit stop would be extremely slower than Morgen's allowing the German to leave the Pit and opening a large distance from the Brazilian, who while catching up to the German, was unable to get close to her.

In the end, Rubens would come home to record his 3rd F1 Victory in a row! A feat that the team was proud of.

"
Vitoria Rubens! P1! P1!"

"
Woohoo! Good job guys! We are going home and bringing this victory with us! **** Yeah!"

Francisco was disappointed, although his duel with Morgen was amazing, he still finished in 3rd, nevertheless, a good result for the team.

With the race weekend finished, the team finally came down to their two Home GPs, hoping to end the championship in a high note...They'd take the lessons learned from here and take them to Jacarépagua in Rio.

Finally, the Championship reached it's final 2 rounds, this time, it was around the great "Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet" Also known as "Jacarépagua" for the region it is located in.

The Racetrack's Grandstands were filled with Green and Yellow dots, with the Grand Prix occurring in Brazil it was obvious that the majority of the fans on the stands were rooting for their home team, Antarctica Motor Racing, Who was coming extremely close to a victory in the Championship's Finale.

The Track is known for its long straights and turns, and it's high speeds, following the contract signature for the start of the season, the Track was greatly refurbished to fit the new cars.

Although the Season still had 1 more race to go, it seems that all could end in this race...After Saturday's Sessions, A Show involving the presence of Samba Schools would be organized, the Samba schools would theme themselves on the Championship, incorporating the symbols of the teams, checkered patterns and so on.

The following Layout was chosen for the South American Grand Prix:

ANTARCTICA SECURES EARLY CONSTRUCTORS TITLE AND BARICHELLO DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP

With still one more race to go, Antarctica Motor Racing secured an anticipaed constructors and drivers championship thanks to an unbeatable final sprint, with Barichello achieving 3 consecutive GP wins and extending its lead on fellow teammate Da Silva to an unreachable distance, same on the Constructors Table, against a Mercedes Benz who showed that it was not as solid as it looked at the beginning of the season, saying goodbye to all title hopes with a disastrous race in Rio, with two DNFs.

The podium at the South American GP was completed by Sinee Chalor (Garuda F1) and Jason Brown (Nexus F1), with Golden Dragon, Pampa Energia, Gunston and Norway securing also some points to try to close the gap to Mercedes, which despite the bad race managed to secure its second place in the Constructors Championship.

It looks like the brazilian GP will just be a big show for the brazilians, who dominated almsot the whole Season, and will surely welcome their new heroes, specially Rubens Barichello.

6 years...It had been 6 years since a Brazilian Driver conquered the IRC Driver Championship, but it finally happened it was also a historical day for Brazil as it was the first time a Brazilian Team actually won a Constructors Championship!

"Barrichello passa a grande reta! Completa a ultima volta! Ele tem a chance de acabar com o campeonato agora mesmo!

Completa 55 voltas ai vem Rubinho! É a ultima volta do Grande Prémio da America do Sul! Chalor e Brown estão se afastando dele! Calma Barrichello! você só tem que guiar o carro para a linha de chegada e a vitória sera sua!"

"E LA VEM BARRICHELLO! FAZENDO HISTORIA! BARRICHELLO NA PONTA DOS DEDOS! RUBENS! RUBENS! RUBENS BARRICHELLO DO BRASIL!!!! CAMPEÃO MUNDIAL DE 1997!! EXPLODE E VAI A LOUCURA A ARQUIBANCADA EM JACARÉPAGUA!"

Galvão cheered as the Brazilian crossed the line as many Brazilians did at home and in the race track, it had been 6 years since a Brazilian won the IRC Championship and the first time a Brazilian team won the IRC Constructors championship!

RACE

The Brazilians had a fantastic qualifying pace, with Antarctica lining up both cars on P1 and P2 for the start.

Barrichello would go on to dominate the race, showing great pace at the face of the Mercedes AMGs, however, Felipe would have a poor start, falling down to 2nd in the first corner and would stay that way for the majority of the race.

during the rounds of pit stops, the Brazilian ran into more issues as the Pit Crew made a costly mistake that saw him fall down all the way to 6th place, although during the final laps he was showing a fast pace, moving up the positions and chasing down Jason Brown, who was in P3, nevertheless, by the race's end, He was P4.

Barrichello however, maintained the lead for the majority of the race, coming home to a cheering crowd and a celebrating team...he would pull over to grab the Brazilian flag, which he'd do a victory lap with...the crowd went crazy, invading the race track to celebrate, they soon swarmed around their hero, the police were quick to intervene, keeping the crowd at a safe distance from the cars that passed by into the pits.

"
Alright Barrichello! It's over! you are WORLD CHAMPION!"

"
WOOOHO! **** **** **** ***** VAMOS! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!"

Barrichello punched the air as the team rushed to him, hugging their pilot and celebrating their victory.

The Brazilian Anthem was played, with Barrichello sobbing in tears of joy..the crowd singing along with the anthem...

The Championship wasn't over, however, with one final round, Felipe's 2nd Place on the standings was fragile, and 1 bad result could end up changing the scoreboard one final time...

The team prepared for the Grand Finale in Interlagos the next week...hoping to give a good race to the public and finish the season in a fantastic note.

NO SUPRISES IN THE SEASON FINALE: BRAZIL PARTIES

And the checkered flag is down once againa and for the final time this year! The party in brazil was complete with one final 1-2 by Antarctica Motor Racing to secure the same positions on the Driver's Championship, with da Costa Nascimentograsping the runner up position and Golden Dragon clinching one final podium this year.

The second half of the year showed a clear dominance by part of the brazilian team, with their closest competition, Merdeces, running out of gas and being uable to pose a serious title challenge in the end.

With this, the 1997 Season is over and there is much to celebrate in Brazil, with both titles home.

We look forward to next season and thank you all for joining us!
