A call to Jean-Christophe Napoléon

Jean-Christophe would receive a phone call during the early morning from a representative of Lion Defense Industries. The caller would introduce himself as Samir Khan, but would provide no further information until connected with the head of the House of Napoleon.

Jean-Christophe would be informed of the call while he sat at his desk, dealing with the many cases of bullshit involving the current situation in France. After knowing who the call was from, Jean-Christophe would connect to a private and encrypted phone.

"Good day," he would begin, "Jean-Christophe Napoléon speaking."

The voice on the other line would speak up after a brief silence on his end. "Good day Mr. Napoleon, thank you for taking my call. I'll keep things quite brief, if you don't mind. Lion Defense Industries is interested in discussing potential investment opportunities with you as a client. While this could be discussed and confirmed over the phone, I would much prefer to set up a personal meeting where we could discuss this opportunity in detail."

"I'd be open for a meeting," he would state. "But I must ask, what would a military company such as the Lion Defense Industries need with a humble broker and insurance man such as myself?"

"Lion Defense Industries, despite it's size, still sees the potential in acquiring investors into our company the old-fashion way. Humble as you might be, Mr. Napoleon, you are still a man of respectable net worth and influence. My superiors are very interested in securing your business as a VIP client of our company." Samir would continue. "If the meeting is still agreeable, I am able to be in the country by the next morning, your time."

"Well, Mr. Samir, I must say that you've piqued my interest. I cannot promise anything but I am whiling to hear you out." Jean-Christophe would pause for a moment, looking out of the window of his office, revealing the city of Marseille. "Although, I must advise you to be extremely careful while in Marseille, I'm certain you've heard about what's going on. Regardless, I'll be able to meet you at the airport in the morning."

"Indeed, I am aware of the situation currently going on in your country. I'll have one of my staff inform you of our time of arrival a bit later on. Farewell."

Samir would get to setting up the trip on his end for the overnight flight from Singapore to Marseille. Aside from a couple advisers, he would also be accompanied by a pair of bodyguards, considering the situation.

One of his advisers reached out to Jean-Christophe once their plane had touched the ground. They would wait in one of Marseille Airport's private hangars for the arrival of their escort.

Jean-Christophe would be informed of their arrival and quickly asked for his personal chauffeur to drive him in an armored limousine to the private hangar that had been provided for the LDI representative. Jean-Christophe would arrive around 15 minutes after they had landed.

Napoléon would step out of the limo and shake Samir's hand.

"Welcome to France," he would say, "I hope your travel here was without incident? Please, let's discuss things in my limousine while we head to my office, as safe as Marseille is compared to the rest of France at the moment, I'm not willing to risk it.'

"Can't say I have anything to complain about, Mr. Napoleon." Samir would reply with a smile. He and his small entourage would enter the limousine when asked, and would remain mostly quiet during the ride aside from Samir himself. "I'm pleased to see Marseille is doing well during this tumultuous time for France. If I'm to be frank, i'd have to admit that it's a fitting statement in regards to just who you are as a person..and a leader."

Jean-Christophe would chuckle. "I suppose some would call me that," he admitted, "but in my eyes, I'm simply a Frenchman looking out for other Frenchmen." The Limousine would drive through the streets of Marseille, revealing the cleaned streets of Marseille compared to what they had been a few weeks before. Buildings still had broken windows but they had been replaced by neatly placed plywood, burned vehicles still lined the streets but they had been placed on the side of the streets to make room for working vehicles to pass, and tons upon tons of garbage had littered the streets which had now been cleaned.

The limousine would soon arrive at Jean-Christophe's business, a historical looking building, overlooking the Meditteranean. "Please, follow me up to my office." The group would walk through the front doors where a secretary and a guard armed with a pistol were seated, an elevator would bring them up to the fifth floor where his office was the entire floor. "Make yourselves at home, gentlemen." Jean-Christophe would pull out a chair and placed it in front of his desk while he pulled his own chair to the front of the desk so that he and Samir would be sitting side-by-side instead of the desk separating them. "Please, take a seat Mr. Samir."

Samir and his pair of advisers would follow Jean into the elevator while the two bodyguards took up position upon either side. "My security team will keep your staff company downstairs." Samir would state while they waited for the elevator to reach their floor. Once they were upstairs he would take his seat next to Jean while his staff quickly sweeped the room for any listening devices.

"Apologies if your men have done this already, it's merely a formal precaution." He began, then looked over to his advisers and nodded upon hearing a quiet 'all clear'. "In truth Mr. Napoleon, I am here at the behest of my government, rather than Lion Defense Industries. That being said, I do work for LDI in an official capacity, and the interest of the company do also intersect with that of the crown. In any case, my superiors are committed to providing your movement with it's full support, unofficially. Aside from being the person to propose this to you, I would also serve as the liaison between your movement and my superiors at the Department of Intelligence, as a sign of my kingdom's commitment to ensuring you have the resources to ensure stability, Mr. Napoleon."

"Ah," he said simply, "I should've of known that this was political in nature rather than business.

By support, I suppose you mean weapons? What if I told you that I have no interest in starting any civil wars? What if I simply desired to make sure that my hometown doesn't go to shit?"

Samir shook his head, the soft smile on his face still resting their comfortably as he waited for Jean to finish speaking.

"Our Kingdom has no desire to destabilize the country of an ally, Mr. Napoleon, and that is why we wished to reach out to you instead of the variety of groups that have made their bids for power. Truth be told, there are many elements within the Royal Cabinet that don't believe President Macron can hold France together. That said, we aren't in the business for directly being a cause for the fall of yet another French republic, either. That is why we wish to support you-- not with weapons in particular, but in whatever method you deem suitable for maintaining a stable base of power. If the French Republic is to fold under the weight of its own people, we would much rather have an individual of your particular character being the next head of state, and a close ally indeed." He would pause and let his words sink as deep as they could.

"But if your ambition begins and ends here in Marseille, we would still offer our support in your effort to keep the peace."
