"Minister Pik, thank you for taking my call. I'm sure you must have a lot of work, therefore I will not take much time from you and go straight to the point. You are surely aware of the antarctic debate currently going on in the Netherlands.

As a fellow southern nation, and a country that historically operated bases on Antarctica, I would like to inquire about your position on certain european nations attempt to unilateraly claim and manage antarctica affairs. We would like to see South Africa participate in the debate and contribute with your insight on the matter. I'm certain we can find common ground to work on."

“Yes it’s very concerning this land grab attempt in Antarctica. We would be more than happy to participate in the debate.”
