DefExpo2005 (Defence Expo 2005) is the first edition of India's flagship defence expo, showcasing Land, Air, Naval and Homeland Security Systems. It will be held at Pragati Maidan, in New Delhi, from the 11th to the 20th of November, 2005. A number of Indian private and state-owned companies would show off their products. Indian companies presenting would include Bharat Dynamics, Bharat Electronics, and Hindustan Aviation, plus a variaty of shipbuilders and designers. Also present would be state-owned Indian Armed Forces production support organisations. The event's head organiser would be Apurva Sundaram, of the Indigenous Defence Equipment Exporters Association.
This event would be organised as part of an internal tri-department initative between the External Affairs Department, the Defence Department, and the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade Department. The defence expo would have three goals: 1) to introduce foreign companies and governments to Indian defence products; 2) to conduct research on foreign defence products that could be of interest to India; 3) to expand the links between private companies of both India and other nations.
Also invited to display defence products would be American (Odinson), Russian (Jay), French (Alexander), British (Jamie), Australian (Owen), Thai (Bossza007), Eranian (DukeofBread), German (Danny), Korean (John), Portugese (Bruno), Brazilian (bruhlord89), Vietnamese (HeadlessSeeker), Iraqi (Nathan), Chinese (Zebra), Japanese (Tokugawa), Spanish (Zak) and Polish (ManBear) government agencies, state-owned companies and private companies. All nations' governments and defence industries would be invited to attend without a display.
