[Argentina] Call to Brazil

The President of Argentina would call his brazilian counterpart on a private and encrypted line.

President Victor Romero would answer after he has been told that the line has been encrypted.

"Victor, how are you? Sorry to bother you. I'll go strightly to the point. I am concerned about what is currently going on with some particular nations. Could you please give me your version of the things?"

"It is not a problem. I made a disparaging remark about Taiwan, which has been against me from the beginning because we did not immediately recognise them as a nation, like many other countries did previously.

When France heard about this remark they immediately withdrew their representatives from talks we were having."

He pauses and sighs.

"With the Swedes, it is the same as before. We were negotiating what we thought was a fair deal, but they just kept dragging their feet, so we pulled out of the negotiations."

"Ok, I see. Well, Argentina will not interfere in your disputes with Taiwan and Sweden, as they are rather secondary in our foreign agenda. But for France, and I think you will share my opinion, it would be good to mantain a stable relationship with them. Not only do they provide a good amount of weapons and equipment, but they seem a rather proactive Government.

May I suggest we try to mend things up with Paris?

Also, you know that you can count with Argentina's support on security matters. If you have any concerns just call me and we can look for a solution to it, although I would prefer we use diplomacy and peaceful means."

"I agree totally. Sweden and Taiwan are merely tadpoles. But with France it was unexpected to see their strong reaction to what I said.

As far as security matters, we thank you for your support. And as a practical matter, now that Italy has threatened my shipping in the Mediterranean, I think now would be good time for a joint naval exercise with your troops in Alexandria. I would like to send a destroyer, 2 frigates, a sub and perhaps one San Antonio Class Landing Ship with three to 500 Marines.

Would you agree to that?"

Having seen the speeches of the french and italian Governments while on the phone, the argentine President would continue.:

"Please, de escalate the issue with France by accepting their recommendation. As for the italians... We will deal with them accordingly."

I agree. Perhaps France is flustered by all of this. But Italy? Let us see if they can do more than make pizza. I will ask Defense Minister DeSilva to take care of the Italian problem. Is this acceptable to you?"

"Please, try to keep France out of this. Our problem is not with them. I strongly recommend you just apologize to them and let my Embassy in Paris assist your brazilian staff there and help them evacuate without incident.

As for the military fleet for the joint exercise, lets pospone it few days until we can sort things out, as France itself won't see it very kindly if you cross his shores with that.

My mediterranean fleet, which is by far the strongest force in the area, will guarantee the safety of the braizlian assets there."

"I never actually wanted France to be a part of this. It came as quite a surprise as I said. France got angry at the comment I made about Taiwan. I acquiesced, and allowed their diplomats to leave Brazil without incident. Perhaps this was a mistake.

But now they are claiming because of the Yellow Vest Movement they are not able to guarantee our diplomats safety. So I am going to organize a small battle group, perhaps two destroyers, two frigates and one sub.

They will navigate in international waters off of the French coast. If something happens to my diplomats, I can respond accordingly, both to French and Italian threats.

I wish the Brazil Class carriers were finished so I would have air cover, but you cannot have everything you wish for.

But I cannot allow France to simply say, "it is too dangerous in Paris," for a dozen Brazilians to take a taxi to an airport.

If that is truly the case than Europe should be in an uproar, as their countries and citizens are also at risk.

They need to know I am not making empty threats.

"May I repeat my offer to help your personnel in Paris out with the argentine embassy there? I just feel that sending a battlegroup, even though they will remain in international waters, and you are in your right to do so, would cause unnecesary provocations.

"Yes, I believe a second approach would must useful in this situation, as the French seem hellbent on destroying the Diplomatic Relationship we had just begin to build.

As far as the flotilla of ships, I cannot be dissuaded. With reports now of German attacks on my embassy on Berlin, this situation has gotten out of control, with European countries seemingly banding to together because they are just looking for a fight and can do so in better numbers.

Defense Minister DeSilva suggests a rendezvuos in the North Atlantic or in the Alboran Sea after crossing through Gibraltar somewhere in International waters. We can discuss in person within a weeks time. As our commanders at sea when the time is right.

We will update you of their status once they are out to sea.

We have had an embassy on the the threat of being attacked in Germany, and diplomats that cannot leave from France. We need a show of force in the region. How strong is your force in the region?

We plant to to create a task force of at least 2 destroyers, 2 frigates, 4 corvettes and 2 kilo class subs plus and tanker and replenishment ship, plus a ANTONIO tank landing ship. Would you be possibly able to add a carrier to this task force?

"We have enough force to flatten germany and italy at the same time. But is it worth it? What do you plan to do with that "show of force"?

"I think Germany can be spoken to. France, I am not so sure as he wants to try at the ICJ, even though he is holding my diplomats hostage. Italy will never be reasonable. I say we take out the Italian government who have done nothing but escalate the crisis, under the guise of wanting to protect Europe, but they have barely spoken to their neighbors, and never once to Germany."

"If you engage Italy, germany will jump in for sure, and France stated that if Italy is attacked, they will also pitch in."

Argentina and its allies put a lot of effort in helping Brazil, We dont want to risk over stretching our resources and credibility. Its time to regroup and ser a new course with Our new allies."

Brazil Defense Minister Oscar DeSilva makes an encrypted phone call to his counterpart in Argentina.

"Greetings this is Defense Minister DeSilva of Brazil. May I speak to the defense minister, please. Yes I will hold."

While he waits he checks the latest news about ICJ Case#3 against his brother.

"What a farce," he mumbles to himself, shaking his head in frustration and disbelief.
