Overview |
The Department of Infrastructure and Transport is the Australian Government department responsible for providing advice on and delivering policies and programs for infrastructure and transport. The Department's key objectives are improved infrastructure across Australia through investment in and coordination of transport and other infrastructure and an efficient, sustainable, competitive, safe and secure transport system for all transport users through regulation, financial assistance and safety investigations. The portfolio also includes government agencies such as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, the Federal Airports Corporation, the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator, Infrastructure Australia, the International Air Services Commission, the Australian Rail Track Corporation, the High Speed Rail Authority, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, the Office of Road Safety, the National Transport Commission and the National Intermodal Corporation.
