Brazil-Argentine Joint Naval Base

It was agreed today that Brazil and Argentina will use the Saint Peter and Saint Paul island chain to create an artificial island to build a naval and air base.

The island chain is close to 1000km Northeast of the Brazilian Mainland and approximately 1900 km Northwest of Ascension Island.

It is believed that the ArgenDef companies INVAP, and TANDANOR, will play a major role in the design and construction of the island/naval and air base.

Unconfirmed Brazilian military sources stated that the island base will have a 3500 foot runway and hangars for at least 100 fighter/bombers/drones, as well as a naval base that can accompany 20 vessels. The source also said at least 1 brigade of 1000 Brazilian Marines will be stationed at the as of yet unnamed base and there will be housing for another 1000 more should the need arise.

Argentine construction companies would privately contact the argentine and brazilian Governments and request information regarding contracts for the construction of the naval base. At the same time, argentine officials would confirm to their brazilian counterparts the support of the Government in Buenos Aires to the construction of this multinational base and its financial commitment to its realization.

The argentine Ministry of Defence would privately contact its brazilian counterpart asking for the plans and requirements of the Naval base in order to give its own feedback and support.
