With the disintegration of Zimbabwean society, it was undeniable that people would exploit the chaos for their own ends. Two such groups were the former communist insurgent groups, ZANU-PF and ZAPU. They had spent the months following the collapse of Mugabe's regime laying low and assembling their followers, so that they could organise their own respective alternatives to the provisional government in Harare. However, there was a critical need for arms. As such, they used their contacts outside of the country to try and organise the supply of arms into the country via covert means.
Wanted: Small Arms Desc: Smalls arms of at least assault rifle calibre, such as 5.56mm NATO or above, needed. Delivery to South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, or Zambia acceptable, delivery to Zimbabwe preferable. Also needed; lightweight anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons, preferably handheld rocket-propelled grenade/MANPAD SAMS. |
