Doordarshan (abbreviated as DD; lit. 'distant vision, television') is an Indian state-owned public television broadcaster founded by the Gandhi Empire, owned by the Information and Broadcasting Department. Doordarshan, which also broadcasts on digital terrestrial transmitters, provides television, radio, online and mobile services throughout metropolitan and regional India and overseas.
Doordarshan is comprised of several channels, including DD India (English international news and current affairs channel), DD National (Hindu and English news and current affairs channel), DD Sports (Hindu and English sports channel) and DD Bharati (Hindu and Enlgish art and culture channel). It also has many state-based channels, reporting local news in the respective state language.
