Mr President, Turkish-Egyptian relations have deteriorated over the Middle East in the past few months. We have opposed each other on the ever-controversial issue in Palestine. We have used every way possible to try to defeat the other side. And now we are on the same side. Our position on Palestine has already officially been announced. A two-state solution or a unified Israel under Palestine. I trust that Turkey shares the same view and stance as we do. To show that we are now on the same side, I would like to propose a meeting in Ankara to discuss a military alliance. I remember your Prime Minister phoning my President to discuss this some time ago. Well, we would like to renew that offer. I look forward to reading your reply, and I hope that this will be the start of a longer, more stable friendship between Turkey and Egypt. Regards, Kamal Ganouri Prime Minister of Egypt |
