"It saddens me that the organisation has become a mere shadow of its former self. In its current state it has lost nearly all legitimacy and is no longer regarded as an institution which can bring together all states on this planet to discuss issues of mutual importance. Where does Ethiopia stand in its position on the Global Assembly, I am aware that your government has opted to not seek membership."

"We share your concerns regarding the absence of an international body who can have a real impact on the process of global stabilization and conflict prevention.​

While we were surprised to see the GA not take decisive action on matters such as Turkey or the ongoing situation in South Africa, that was not the reason why we opted not to be part of said organization. We were concerned of the potential implications of being tied to the unrestricted will of a potential group of foreign powers that might well pass binding resolutions that would imply harm to our own economy and people. We felt it was just leaving the door open for potential unexpected threats.​

With that said, we do recognize the importance of a global forum for negotiations and talks, and to take coordinated actions on matter of global importance. We look forward to see what the future brings on this front, but in the meantime, and as a form of proof of Ethiopia's regard for international rule of law, we contacted the Secretary General of the GA to inquire about the possibily for Ethiopia to voluntarily adhere to certain Resolutions which we have reviewed and consider important and legally speaking safe enough. Chief among them is the so called "Strategic Arms Registrar". We haven't heard back form him though.​

In this context, once we achieve our goal of diplomatically settling the issue with Eritrea, and conducting the planned constitutional reform, we might reconsider our position vis a vis the GA."​

"We do applaud you for continuing to uphold international law which works towards the collective betterment of humanity. We are exploring possibilities of reform, though this would require a significant majority of member states. We are hoping to beging exploratory talks with other like-minded nations on the future of the organisation."
