SPECIAL AGENTS​

The special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation make up the best-known and greatest investigative law enforcement agency in the world. The special agents of the FBI have a number of uniquely important duties for ensuring the national security of the United States ranging from the enforcement of federal laws throughout the United States to counter-espionage, counter-terrorism, protection duties, and assisting other federal and local agents/police in investigations. FBI special agents come from all kinds of backgrounds including law enforcement, attorneys, engineers, medical doctors, scientists, and educators. Having professionals from so many different backgrounds allows the Bureau to be able to investigate crimes in a huge variety of fields without having to get outside consultation. To become a special agent, applicants must first go through an extensive background check, an intrusive polygraph test, and then a lengthy training process in Quantico Virginia.​

SPECIAL AGENTS​

The special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation who aren't divided into special teams are the primary enforcement force of the Bureau. Most of an agent's job, depending on what field they are investigating, largely consists of investigations and field work. Agents also sometimes assist in protecting VIPs and conducting covert and undercover operations.​

SPECIAL WEAPONS AND TACTICS TEAMS​

The Special Weapons and Tactics Teams of the Federal Bureau of Investigation are SWAT teams that are used in high-risk situations in enclosed places such as during a bank robbery. Each FBI field office has a dedicated SWAT team to render help in their region when needed. Members of the SWAT teams are all special agents, however they do not normally conduct investigations in the field as a normal special agent would. They all receive additional training, on top of their original training at Quantico, and have participated in high-profile raids on organized crime meetings, terrorist cells, and undercover operations.​

HOSTAGE RESCUE TEAM​

The Hostage Rescue Team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is the elite tactical team of the Bureau. The team consists of 90 operators who are the best of the FBI's SWAT teams or highly trained operators from the military such as members of Delta Force and the Navy Seals. The team has been used for events such as Presidential Inaugurations, the Olympics, and counter-terrorism raids that involve weapons of mass destruction.​
