I am writing to you in order to extend an invitation for you to attend a meeting with myself in the Élysée Palace to discuss the status of relations between our two countries, the current status in Europe and the possibility of a Trade Agreement between our two nations.

If you are unable to attend due to your other committments, please let me know if you are able to send Ms A. Jorritsma-Lebbink or another minister in your place.

Dear President Chirac,

Prime Minister Wim Kok is very honoured by your invitation. Despite current unavailability he is honoured to take your invite when he can, most likely somewhere in the next week or two. Once an availability is more clearly available we will contact you again to see if we can find a date where both you and the Prime Minister are available. As for some preparation, would a private flight of a Gulfstream IV, conducted by the Royal Dutch Air Force, be allowed to land at the Aéroport de Paris-Charles de Gaulle, where the Prime Minister could be picked up by you personally or an escort to bring him too the Élysée Palace. Once we know this I will contact you again with the protocol and possible dates so we can confirm when this meeting can be hosted.
