Due to failing policy & shifting political ideals in the German people & in the federal government, and upon advice from the now-incumbent President Celina Kästner, Chancellor Angela Merkel has enacted Article 68 of the Grundgesetz. A vote of confidence has been asked for by the Chancellor to the Bundestag. According to the Grundgesetz, if Angela Merkel does not possess a majority of votes in favor of her confidence as Chancellor, the President can choose to have the current Bundestag hold a new election for Chancellor, or dissolve the Bundestag to ensure a new government.

You have two votes that you can do in the link provided, one of which is required: the official vote of confidence, and (optional, and more advice on my part) whether the Bundestag should be disbanded or not; you may only vote once, and additional votes must be stated here as well for the first one.

Despite some opposition, the vote was cast: not many people wished for Merkel to remain as chancellor. In the hours that followed the Bundestag meeting, "former" Chancellor Merkel would make a speech from her office. In the speech released by the press, her office was already being cleared out of its belongings.

"Good afternoon, ladies & gentlemen of the Republic. It comes with great disappointment, and a heavy heart, that I have been elected by the Bundestag to resign as Chancellor. As soon as the Federal Government came back into power, I had hoped that our unification would bring us back to democracy. I opened our borders with refugees to ensure cooperation and economic opportunity. I desired a military for defense, not interventions...but, I have failed," Angela Merkel would state. Her expression dour and saddened.

"I had hoped to bring Germany back to the status quo of a democratic nation...which I did, but I was told to be an ineffective, passive-aggressive policy maker. I was told that I could not take criticism, nor could I effectively run Germany as a country that desired change. I would like to take this opportunity to tell you my thoughts on the "4th Reich Era," as many here in Germany refer to this period of time as. We have undergone a variety of governments, with a variety of leaders...fascist dictators, communist & socialist oligarchs, an indecisive monarchy...we've seen it all, in the span of only a few decades. However, what I believe has prevailed in the end is democracy. Many of these governments were possible because of democratic incentive. People were tired of the status quo, and changed their governance for better or worse." Angela would purse her lips as she struggled to finish her statement.

"I hope I leave this office having given German a sense of purpose and identity again. I hope that, wherever our next government takes us, it will be for the betterment of the world at large, and not just for the betterment of Germany...my hope is that Germany, despite totalitarianism, despite oligarchies, despite anything that torments it, will find its way to return to democracy, and find its identity. I leave this office knowing that democracy is failing...but perhaps you, the people, can remember that democracy gave you your new regimes in the first place. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve as chancellor, and thank you for allowing me to serve you, the people, for as long as I have." Merkel would then stand and leave the desk and the camera would shut off, leaving the German public to either celebrate or grieve the death of the Merkel cabinet.

In the days that followed, leading into the next month, the German government would officially be dissolved, and new federal elections held immediately thereafter. The results would be announced, at the latest, by next month.
