Subject: Invitation to Potsdam

Herr Emanuel Macron,

Guten abend. I hope that this message finds you in good spirits, especially considering the turmoil that your country has had to face; while I am not necessarily the happiest that you have retained your position as President of the French Republic — when the French people clearly did not want you as President at all — I am still relieved that the illegitimate Socialist Republic of France did not execute you, as we had feared.

I would like to invite you to meet with me in Potsdam, at the Neue Palais, this Saturday; while this will be a diplomatic talk to ensure that I can understand how you escaped, and how you have managed to wrangle your government back into control, I do not wish for it to be strictly diplomatic in nature. Rather, I wish to invite you as a guest to have lunch with me, and to talk to me about who you are as a person, not as a politician. I understand if you may be hesitant, but I can safely say that you are always welcome in my abode if your claim to be open and reciprocal to diplomacy is true. Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you are interested.

From: Office of the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs — Deutsches Reich
Subject: The Closure of Diplomatic Missions in France

To whomever it may concern,

My name is Karsten Jürke, and I act as the Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs for the German Reich; I would like to express my utmost disgust and revulsion at your foreign policy on behalf of His Imperial & Royal Majesty, the Kaiser. Considering the lack of maturity and your seeming lack of care for the regards of another nation and its own national identity — and your subtle, yet not-unnoticed threats against their sovereignty — my government has seen it as fit to recall our diplomatic personnel from the French Republic. Note, however, that this is not a permanent closure, but considered a temporary closure until the moment when you all (the government) can choose to stop acting like spoiled children, and take criticism like rational adults.

Here is how the situation is going to go: the Federal Foreign Office has called back its diplomatic personnel stationed in all but one of our diplomatic missions; this includes Lyon, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, and Marseille. Note that this does not include our Embassy in Paris, as we still believe that, if you are willing to cooperate, you have an ambassador in Paris who is willing to speak with you. However, we will be keeping security on a continuous high alert, and I would advise against coming to the Embassy unannounced if you wish to keep matters as civil as possible; you will be allowed to keep your diplomatic missions running at your leisure, but I highly advise that you do nothing to upset the Federal Government further if you wish to keep it this way.

Furthermore, we have made extensions to the political asylum seekers from the last regime, and, by our estimates, around 3500 out of the 5000 asylum seekers have decided to stay in Germany. We will be sending back your people that wish to return home, and we will, under no circumstances, attempt to hinder their return to France if they so-desire in the future. However, it should also be stated that we expect the same treatment to German residents returning home: a lack of hindrance to their return; failure to cooperate in that regard will be seen as an act of aggression against the German Reich, and her people, and we may be forced to act in the interests of self-defense.

Sanctions of a variety of natures have been enacted, and will be enforced at our leisure, including diplomatic, economic, financial, military, and sports-based sanctions; as well as this, an advisory warning to reconsider the need to travel has been issued to German citizens, and I advise the same to be done regarding French citizens who wish to visit Germany. Furthermore, I wish to extend the (personal) desire that you apologize to the Indian Democratic Peoples' Republic for your behavior, if we wish for diplomatic relations to smooth themselves out. That being said, my government does not tolerate defamation, nor does it tolerate the restriction of the Press's right to freedom of speech. You have all made a grave error in judgement, and have made several nations both confused and angry with you, as has clearly been seen; be the bigger men in the room.

Regards,
Karsten Jürke
Federal Minister of Foreign Affairs
