Exercise due to commence shortly with the Response Force Task Group, or RFTG for short, in International Waters on the coast of Cyprus. Briefings had begun to take place of all those involved, Aircraft checks followed, Marines preparing equipment and all would be using Blank Firing Attachments, Naval Vessels to have involvement of protecting and carrying their own strikes on the airfield. All simulated. This would provide Level 1 Airfield Capture for the Marines and CAS training for the Fleet Air Arm Units Involved.

Although the Exercise was due to begin shortly, word would come from the Ministry of Defence announcing the cancellation of the exercise. This came about due to multiple reasoning. With the conflict in Canada, if any deployments were to be made, the RFTG would likely be involved due to their position and role; especially if ISAF agreed to a mandate to prevent coastal activity in the region. Additionally, the new Cyprus Government confirmed worry over the British Military Presence, so as good faith, the Exercise itself was cancelled and the RFTG was to stay based near Cyprus Waters until further notice of any change of deployment.
