The Holy Alliance (AKA: The Entity) is the ultra secretive intelligence arm of the Holy See. Its agents are deeply embedded in all countries that have Catholic… and even Orthodox and Protestant (as they will send young priests to train in these other faiths as postulants) churches their duties for The Entity are secondary to their regular priestly duties. As such there are very few places in the world in which the arms of The Church doesn’t reach when needed. Though their job is primarily intelligence gathering, there have always been rumors of assassinations and even coups backed by the Holy See, these are of course just ‘rumours’. It is believed by those who have any clue whatsoever of the existence of The Entity, is that it was founded in 1566 by Pope Pius V, which if this information is true, makes it the oldest and longest running intelligence service in the modern world.
It should be noted that the Holy See has always denied having any intelligence service at all, and insists that it relies on the kindness of allied nations to serve that purpose.
If there is a Head of The Entity his identity is unknown to anyone but the Pope
