Africa Settentrionale Italiana
Department of the Kingdom of Italy
Regent Francesco Messe, 'King of the Colony,' steps into the massive chamber, and the senate falls silent as he comes to a stop, staring down at the crowd of senators. Along the right side of the room lay the mainstream ILNA conservative faction, by far the largest force within Italian Libya. standing for continued Italianization and denouncing modernisation and industrialisation, with fears of just empowering the Libyan Majority.
To the left stands a slowly strengthening opposition to the mainstream ILNA, the PINA or 'Progressisti italiani del Nord Africa'. a progressive wing of the ILNA faction. standing for the integration of Libyans into the general Italian society, as well as pushing for industrialisation and general modernisation of the colony.
Since the martial law declaration, the Italian Colony has been in deadlock. Neither side of PINA nor ILNA refused to back down or compromise. But a demand from Francesco Messe changes this. A great debate is to begin, and either the 2 sides actually work together and compromise, or even more powers are to be granted to the Regency. Neither side wishes to lose even more power to Francesco.
The Senate meets to finalise several new laws and constitutional amendments:
The place of the non-Italians in the colony
The status of modernisation and industrialisation
The foreign diplomacy of the colony
Expansion opportunities of the colony
Constitutional powers of the regent/monarch
The future of Libya after returning to the mainland
Francesco Messe raises a hand signalling for the debate to finally begin...
